Gannon trying to make it out like it was a few bad plays.  Mahomes had one incompletion in 2nd half and they got 0 sacks on the day.  Complete failure. Not one or two bad plays

Yeah, but the ones that ended in TDs were the worstest.  The others were just bending... the ones they scored on were where they broke.  "Bend but don't break philosophy."

Yes please.

He decided to have hip surgery and take a year away from football from what I read. He withdrew his name.

Looks like Desai, Joseph or Schumann, or maybe another guy from Georgia we don’t know about yet

Yeah.  Sucks.

That's not how I read it.  I read it that the conversation with the Eagles didn't lead to an offer so he decided to have surgery

I may be in the minority here, but I think Gannon was underrated here and I’d rather he’d still be here given the other candidates.

I hope I’m wrong.

Honestly we'll never know because the next DC won't have a Slay-Bradberry level combo at his disposal most likely which makes a big difference.  Also likely to bleed other talent on D as well.

The D will be crazy different next season. Player wise, I mean.

I disagree. In fact I think he was overrated and it showed with his lack of not adjusting. You could have the best ingredients (players) but if you're a bad cook (coach) you're not gonna produce full potential of the meal. We saw time and time again how crappy we were in zone especially against good QBs. We also saw how potent we were when we blitzed and played press man, but he enjoyed to blitzes and play the CBs 7yds off. Totally defeats the purpose.

I'd like them to bring in a DC that will be as aggressive on D as Sirianni is on O. I've never been a fan of sitting on a lead and changing the way the D attacked the other team earlier in the game before the lead was built. Continue doing what got you there and stop getting complacent and "safe". The offense flourished with the aggressiveness and it got them to the SB.

Is it okay if I like Desai because he is of Indian descent?  I think that's really cool.

Sean Desai A Coach Who "Checks All The Boxes"

Seahawks associate head coach-defense Sean Desai is making a strong impression in his first few months on the job.

It's Desai

Sean Desai.... very qualified for the position. 👍🏻

I just hope he's much better than Gannon.

I hope Desai is creative and more aggressive than Gannon.

Checked out Chicago’s numbers in 2021-22 when Desai was DC.

6th in yards per game: 316

23rd in rushing yards per game

3rd in passing yards per game: 192

22nd in points per game: 23.9

11th in 3rd down efficiency

4th in sacks

MIxed bag. Some good stats and some alarming stats. Of course, a lot has to do with personnel.

My take is that Desai can't be any worse than Gannon with on the go adjustments in the game.  As for his style of defense, if it's effective and wins games, so be it.  But I'm just hoping the defense isn't the sitting duck it was under Gannon when the opposing team had a good QB.

"Alarming" stats after serving as DC for one year in Chicago?  I don't believe a coach is the sum of his stats but I didn't see anything alarming in those numbers.

From what I've read about Desai, he seems to be impressive and smart - certainly smarter than his predecessor.  Desai has a Ph.D. in education from Temple, and that's not the type of thing you see, almost ever.   Time will tell, but on the DC front, I believe the Eagles just upgraded.

I think its personnel.  I mean remember when Bowles took over as DC after the Castillo disaster and the D got even worse.  Next year with the Cardinals Bowles had a top 10 Defense.  I just hope Desai is more creative than Gannon.  The D was so vanilla this past year and basically cost us a SB which is still so infuriating.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the hire but that Bears team had some talent. This team had Khalil Mack, Roquan Smith, Eddie Jackson Robert Quinn and Eddie Goldman. It just concerns me when you’re 23rd in rushing yards and 22nd in points.

Intelligence-wise, Desai has it which I’m impressed with. I think he went to Columbia as well. Again, he would’ve been my first choice with the candidates who were left.

He has had good mentoring. I just hope he makes better in game adjustments than Gannon.

We are doomed!

Young blood. Im good with it. More desirable than a retread guy.

The guy is qualified, but here is my real concern. I got this from an online article as I dug deeper into what this new DC believes in:

"Sirianni and Roseman are obviously big believers in Fangio’s scheme – they brought him in before the Super Bowl to serve as a consultant – and in Desai they have someone who is a clear Fangio disciple. That means a 3-4 base, lots of zone coverage, two-high safety shell, coverages geared to prevent big plays, producing sacks without blitzing."

Sound familiar?  I hope this is NOT the case.
