Couldn't give a monkey's toss about scheme, all that matters is what happens on the field, the scheme is not to blame for the pass rush slip sliding away nor the secondary allowing the Chiefs receivers to run wild and free on the last two TD's.

Whatever you think of Gannon's scheme we had an all timer of a regular season defense.

The Fangio system has done fine against good QBs. Gannon just didn't do a good job with it. Reality is he was a Zimmer guy who ran a lot of Fangio stuff in 2022. It worked a lot but he didn't know how to deal with certain situations.  Hoping that Desai does. Seems like he is smart enough. We won't know until we know.

I was talking about Gannon getting smoked. I don't care about scheme. I care about adjusting and not being so rigid that you can't deviate from a plan or scheme when needed.

Maybe that was on Gannon, but his mentor (Fangio) was with him preparing that scheme for the Super Bowl. He was a paid assistant all year also. I wonder how much of a difference we will actually see this coming year especially with the potential of losing so many defensive starters.

And Gannon never worked for Fangio.  They borrowed some Fangio concepts this season

Do you think that there is nothing to the rumors that the Eagles tried to offer more money for Gannon to stay or that the guy they just hired was a Fangio disciple as well?

Yeah I highly doubt Fangio and Gannon didn’t have conversations the whole time he was here especially when they basically hired him as a consultant around the time they were struggling on defense.

I hope not. We are due for a slight refresher. A few more twists and changes that will fit the new personal. The old way of doing things is unsustainable in view of all the losses of free agents. But we will see what Howie cooks up.

I wish Gannon the best. I'm not really endeared to him the way I was to Jim Johnson or Bud Carson, but I hope he has a successful career and wins as many games as he can, so long as it's not against the Eagles.

From what was in that video he's smart and will adjust to the offense.

Overall I hope the new guy is better than Gannon. 

At the end of the day, the guys with the headsets on can only do so much. If your guys on the field can consistently beat the guys across from them, you win. To me, situational matchups matter a great deal. Finding the right players to consistently win those matchups is a challenge. Given the number of FA's, the Eagles need to have a great draft and FA period. It's Howie time.

Bad field, dubious penalty, but giving up two wide open red zone scores combined with letting Mahomes just run for 20 yards on a bad leg is unforgivable. Not sure if that stuff was the fault of coaching, scheme, or just bad luck, but whatever the case it was the worst possible time for the defense to faulted the way that they did.

The defense sure did have bad luck against above avg QBs
