Eagles restructure Jake Elliott, free up much-needed cap space

Quote

NFL Network’s Tom Pellissero reports that there were a few salary conversions done overnight, conversions that save the respective teams mentioned some cap space. The Philadelphia Eagles have reworked placekicker Jake Elliott‘s deal. That frees up $2.492 million for the Birds.

I never had any doubt, I think he and Kelce will never play for another team.  Both sides want the players to be on the team and retire as Eagles and will do what it takes to make that happen.  Howie will put money into signing bonuses or whatever way to structure to pay them well and keep them on the team until they decide to retire.  I don't think either of them will pull a Jason Peters, they will know when it's the right time to retire.  I would not be surprised if Kelce finds a place on the Eagles staff in some way when he's done.  Graham loves the Eagles and they love him and I don't see him going anywhere until it's a retirement.

It'll all come down to the numbers but I don't think it's a lock that Cox is gone.  With Hargrave already out the door Cox could be a decent rotational piece with Davis and whatever draft pick we bring in.

Prefer to have Hargrave over Cox.  But if Hargrave is out of reach in dollar terms, then Cox as the vet on DL would not be bad.  The young DTs have to step up to fill the difference.

Great news on BG. He's still got some left in the tank, that's a pretty good contract for the team and he's a leader. And this team is going to need leaders next year.

BG is still highly productive in a rotation. Great move.

BG:  "It wasn't about the money.  I love Philly.  I don't want to miss a championship with Jalen.  ... I just told my agent to make it happen."

Wish more players were wired like him.

Welcome back, BG!
