Making the playoffs with 9-7, 9-7, and 9-8 records says more about your conference than it does about sustained winning, I mean, it's more or less a .500 winning percentage..

I was a loud and vocal critic of Howie's drafting.  The last 2 years have been improved.  They've made the playoffs 5 of the last 6 years.  The year they didn't was the year Wentz had a horrific year which led to his trade.  2 years later and they were in the Super Bowl and only lost by 3 points to a perennial contender who had already won a previous Super Bowl.

That is actually quite the example of sustained winning.

And again, I've hated on Howie's drafting over the years.  At the moment, he seems to have figured out to stick to the board, don't reach, pick positions he has more success with like linemen, pick from stronger schools and guys who have won championships.  And he's supplemented well in free agency and trades.  They have some key positions to replace and get ready to develop players to take over for older veterans.  They already have done that the last 2 years, and this draft will tell us more if he's sticking to these philosophies or not.

Howie seems to be learning from past mistakes. It's funny because he made a hard pivot from drafting guys based on performance (Whiteside draft), to a draft drafting people purely on athleticism (Reagor draft), and now he seems to have found a sweet spot between the two and picking up a few more guys in the SEC. We'll see how it pans out I guess.

Just keep drafting from the college championship team

Funny that OTC still hasn't updated Slay's numbers.  They have following Bradberry's new contract.  Crazy that his cap hit is only $3M in 2023 and $4.7M in 2024 (jumps to $8.2M in the final year of his contract).  But then 4 void years added to the backend lead to a dead money hit of $22.2M in 2026.  Howie really banking on the cap to continue to skyrocket.

Right, and how many wins did we have the year following the 1st SB, I think it was 4.

How many wins do you expect this upcoming season? If Howie has one of his typical drafts, don't be surprised if it's a sub .500 season.

Point being, you can't sustain a winning tradition relying on FA signings, because he's horrible at drafting he has to rely on FA.  .

I’m expecting at least ten win bud. They lost two offensive players. They should still be able to score. Heck they won 9 games with a new coaching staff and Jalen not playing as well as he did last year. You really think this is a 4 win team. By the way the Eagles won 9 games and won a playoff game after Howie’s first SB.

I believe the success or failure of the upcoming season will depend on drafting a RB that can keep the chains moving, they need to keep that depleted defense off the field.

Eagles likely aren’t drafting a running back especially not early. They didn’t have a chain moving back last year so I doubt you will see much difference but Penny is close to what you want providing he can stay healthy. Overall I have way more concerns about the defense and special teams than the offense.
