Posted March 30, 20233 yr Since the FDR administration, the U.S. has enjoyed a strategic relationship with Saudi Arabia. This special relationship was reaffirmed and strengthened as recently as during the Trump administration. Saudi Arabia has long been a top producer of petroleum. It's regime is authoritarian in many ways, but for purposes of national security, the U.S. has looked the other way and allowed the Saudis to handle their internal affairs without big brother in Washington looking over its shoulder. On the campaign trail, Joe Biden made an empty threat that he would make Saudi Arabia a pariah. https://theintercept.com/2019/11/21/democratic-debate-joe-biden-saudi-arabia/ Joe Biden, in Departure From Obama Policy, Says He Would Make Saudi Arabia a "Pariah” However, after the Russians invaded Ukraine and the U.S. needed the Saudis to ramp up oil production (because the wackos in this administration have impeded domestic oil production), Biden backed down and begged the Saudis to pump more oil. He was not warmly received. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/06/02/biden-saudi-arabia-oil-jamal-khashoggi/ Biden reportedly to visit Saudi Arabia, which he once vowed to make a ‘pariah’ While progress was being made toward a peace agreement with the Israelis and formation of a regional defense bloc with the Israelis (who this administration has also managed to alienate), the Saudis instead saw the writing on the wall and have taken steps to join a China led security bloc, as the Saudis turn away from the U.S. and toward China https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2023/03/29/saudi-arabia-takes-step-to-join-china-led-security-bloc-as-ties-with-beijing-strengthen.html Saudi Arabia takes step to join China-led security bloc, as ties with Beijing strengthen And perhaps worse of all, in a move that will make each and every one of us significantly poorer, the Saudis are now in the process of trading oil for currencies other than the dollar. https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/the-us-is-facing-a-major-challenge-as-petrodollar-loses-force-1032063614 The U.S. Is Facing A Major Challenge As Petrodollar Loses Force This critical strategic relationship has been bungled in the worst possible way. Absolutely inexcusable.
March 30, 20233 yr You can't convince a cult that this senile freak has done anything wrong. They seriously can't engage with any ideas unless the tv specifically tells them what to think on a certain topic. At least one of the two posters that engaged in this thread before me can only be considered semi-literate at best.

April 11, 20233 yr Pop Pop’s strengthening alliances all around the world.
Europe must reduce its dependency on the United States and avoid getting dragged into a confrontation between China and the U.S. over Taiwan, French President Emmanuel Macron said in an interview on his plane back from a three-day state visit to China. Speaking with POLITICO and two French journalists after spending around six hours with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his trip, Macron emphasized his pet theory of "strategic autonomy” for Europe, presumably led by France, to become a "third superpower.” He said "the great risk” Europe faces is that it "gets caught up in crises that are not ours, which prevents it from building its strategic autonomy,” while flying from Beijing to Guangzhou, in southern China, aboard COTAM Unité, France’s Air Force One… …“The paradox would be that, overcome with panic, we believe we are just America’s followers,” Macron said in the interview. "The question Europeans need to answer … is it in our interest to accelerate [a crisis] on Taiwan? No. The worse thing would be to think that we Europeans must become followers on this topic and take our cue from the U.S. agenda and a Chinese overreaction,” he said. [….] He also suggested Europe should reduce its dependence on the "extraterritoriality of the U.S. dollar,” a key policy objective of both Moscow and Beijing.
NBD. Just America’s oldest "ally” announcing that they won’t side with US v China.
April 11, 20233 yr The Saudis are our enemy. They've always been our enemy. They probably always will be our enemy. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.
