Be less poor

I always liked the "Wear Sunscreen" commencement speech or whatever. Popularized by Baz Luhrman but written by a Chicago writer IIRC.

There's a lot of good lines from that.

If you can't face the F....F the face.

Hey. Get your own catch phrase!

And...

Thank you, come again.

Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

I thought it was '97? Either way, advice is a form of nostalgia which is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, painting over the ugly parts, and recycling it for more than it's worth

I just listened to it - he literally says Class of '99 at the beginning  Although the text could have been written before that and then when the song was recorded that part added?  I don't know.  Anyway - this part fits quite well

Accept certain inalienable truths: prices will rise, politicians will philander, you too will get old-- and when you do, you'll fantasize that when you were young prices were reasonable, politicians were noble and children respected their elders

Yup - just found this and was going to post it

Quote

"Advice, like youth, probably just wasted on the young", commonly known by the title "Wear Sunscreen",[1] is an essay written as a hypothetical commencement speech by columnist Mary Schmich, originally published in June 1997 in the Chicago Tribune.[

Yeah that's another good line.

Politicians have always been crap. And they were even worse in the past.

I think nostalgia is one of the stupidest sentiments humans have.
