"He was the main nickelback against the Buffalo Bills in week 8, but was a healthy inactive for week 9 with Avonte Maddox recovered from an injury” looks like he "filled” the role before also appears he is on the bengals practice squad
September 15, 20232 yr I know the name doesn't excite some fans here, but unfortunately, Josiah Scott was placed on the Steelers' PS injury list. So he's out at least 4 weeks too. I think because of his experience filling in for Maddox last season, the Eagles probably would have signed him off their practice squad if healthy. When healthy, he's farther along than Goodrich as a pro. Maybe we need to bring in Strap for a workout. It's always possible that a young guy like Goodrich takes some big steps after a couple games. He just didn't look ready to me.
September 15, 20232 yr Sucks. I like Maddox but dude gets hurt from drinking a glass of water. Goodrich was bad as was Jobe. Play Ricks on the outside and move Bradberry in the slot. Can't be worse than Goodrich/Jobe. At least Ricks plays with aggression.

September 16, 20232 yr Didn't Ringo play some slot in college? I'm sure a couple of his draft profiles mentioned it. Has to be worth a shot, hard to believe he could be worse than Goodrich.

I don’t know someone wrote he did it for Buffalo or something. Anyways it would really feel odd to see the Eagles bring that guy back knowing how he was injured and performed so poorly here.
September 17, 20232 yr I think we will initially mix in some Bradberry, Evans with Goodrich in the slot going forward. See how Goodrich holds up. If Maddox end up on the IR, his roster slot is probably going to Covey or a punter. Can only elevate those guys 3 times from the PS before needing to call them up to activate them.

September 18, 20232 yr Having surgery. Done for the season. Sad. https://www.nbcsportsphiladelphia.com/nfl/philadelphia-eagles/avonte-maddox-having-surgery-this-week-to-repair-torn-pec/536402/ Eagles nickel cornerback Avonte Maddox will have surgery this week to repair a torn pectoral muscle, NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark confirmed. Maddox might miss the rest of the season. The news was first reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport. This is a big blow to the Eagles’ secondary. The Eagles’ nickel cornerback suffered the injury early in the second quarter against the Vikings on Thursday night, flying across the field to make a tackle. He played 13 snaps in the game before exiting the game with what the team initially called a shoulder injury. Maddox this weekend seemed to indicate the bad news.

I hate to write it, because I do like the player, but I think it’s time the Eagles move on from him. It just never feels like he can stay healthy. You can never really account for injuries, but some guys in the NFL just seem a little more injury prone than others. He’s one of those guys who is a little more injury prone.

It always could just be bad luck, but that's a very consistent pattern of bad luck. I think in his situation, you maybe look at incentive based contracts at this point because the biggest risk isn't his ability, but his availability.

Yeah it’s sad, because when he’s out there he’s generally a good player, but at this point they can’t count on him. Hoping some of these young guys they have right now can step up because in reality their secondary is in a difficult spot. If we say Blankenship is legit we have an opening at the other safety, to starting corners near or over thirty and a slot guy who can’t stay on the field. That’s a lot of holes to play and they might need to start doing that as soon as 2024.
September 25, 20232 yr Do not resign him. He's given it his all. He is a very good player, when on the field. But, he is injured far too much now.
