nicks
Love the Eagles, hate dallas. But please analyze how you still think the Eagles are better than dallas as of right now. dallas looked good yesterday against a very good defense. Eagles have been so so against depleted OL's..and please don't say dad always chokes-we don't know about this year...Appease my worries. Thanks....Also don't comment if it's a put down. Cochis_Calhoun
They got a couple of homer roughing the passer calls when drives stalled when they were struggling to put the Jets away, the Jets couldn't sustain drives because they have the worst QB in the NFL. Just because the nations sports broadcasters want to dickride the Cowboys shouldn't mean I have to read it in here. 8 1

The Eagles haven't been playing well and are still winning games. We began the season with a lot of injuries in an area that created a coverage liability on defense. Everybody but Maddox should be back soon. The depth is getting experience in these wins.

EaglesAddict
Even as diehard Eagles fans here, we have to keep things real. Dallas has looked dominant through 2 games against bad competition. But, even still, they did to them what a good team should do. There's no question Dallas is our biggest threat in the division and in the NFC. Based on how the first 2 weeks of the season have looked, they'd kick our arses right now. Dallas has 2 more cakewalks the next 2 weeks. Then they'll play San Fran, Chargers and Rams before playing us. Our toughest game between now and the Dallas game will be against Miami. But we play Washington twice in that span, Rams, Jets and a feisty Tampa team this week. I'm hoping what we've been seeing are "growing pains" with the new coordinators and that they'll get it figured out. If not, it's gonna be painful having to deal with Dallas beating the crap out of us. For whatever reason, Dallas, with Dak starting, seem to have our number for the most part. That needs to change.

And with their schedules there is a good chance they could end up with a better record than us. So yeah there’s a real threat from those two teams. But as you say neither have played anyone good and they’ve just handled business like a good team should. Dallas defense looks really good though and that’s a worry.

I agree. Only thing is that I think a lot of the offensive problems are more on Hurts than on Johnson. Hurts has made some heinous decisions. He threw to the wrong guys, didn't see wide open guys, and in one instance, he pulled the ball back from Swift who had a huge hole to run through, and then ended up getting dumped in the backfield. I'd put SF in the same category as Dallas too. At this point, both look like there on a different level than us.

And yeah I mean that’s a concern because there’s a slight chance that last year ends up being an outlier. I’m not saying that’s the definite case and I’m confident in hurts that it isn’t but that’s a possibility. Hurts needs to take strides in the coming weeks to alleviate those concerns. Utebird
Dallas has the benefit of having the same coordinators from last year where as the eagles as we know have two new coordinators, which could account for the slow start. We'll see the games last year we're both close.

And you're right, his decision-making hasn't been good. I hope that's just some kind of discombobulation between him and Johnson. The offense is obviously off...they keep saying that defenses are playing us different so far, but we need to adjust and figure it out. .

Which isnt Kellen Moore but still McCarthy has a lot of say last year as well and is an experienced play caller. Brian Johnson is a 1st year play caller and so far has struggled. Quinn at DC is a proven DC and been with Dallas for a few years now where as Desai 1st year in Philly. Dallas has a bit more stability at coaching than the eagles this year. We'll see how it shakes out though.
NOTW
Early season hot takes are neat. The Chiefs aren't playing well either, the Bengals got blown out by the Browns, some teams are shaking off rust, others are playing bad teams. It also happens every year that people judge a team's performance as being great but actually later in the season you find the teams they beat just aren't good. The Giants absolutely suck so far. They barely beat the Cardinals. The Bills aren't playing well, Josh Allen is playing awful. You have to wait til 5 or 6 games into the season to really see how teams are. Bad teams beat good teams every year. The best teams will lose a game they should have won. Last year the Chiefs lost to the Colts in the regular season. Did anyone think the Colts were better than the Chiefs? You also have new players and coaches across the league so once teams have film on their opponents and figure out patterns and tendencies and scheme for it, things start to even out. The Eagles should improve as they get more comfortable with the new coordinators and get guys back healthy especially in the defensive secondary. We'll know more after a few more games if they have improved the play calling and execution or if they've remained the same. Dallas looked great the first 2 games, but the Giants suck and the Jets are overrated playing with Zack Wilson who had 170 yards and 3 INTs. Unfortunately the Cowboys play the Cardinals next. Then they play the Patriots and 49ers back to back so we'll see how they do against better teams.

Uscg-green
How does everyone keep falling for this every year? Dallas rolls bad opponents early and we coronate them. Then when they get into the meat of their schedule and have some adversity they choke. Every year. Rinse and repeat. Dak cant win you games. 2

They do get better after a couple regular games.

birdman#12
The cowpies do this every year......they play a couple of teams who are lousy or struggling out of the gate and the media goes wild over "how good the cowpies are"...... Every year. The cowpies burn up all their momentum early in the year, start believing their bullsh--- headlines and can't get it done when the pressure is high.

EazyEaglez
You don’t win the Bowl in September. There is no need to overreact. Ironically if the roles were reversed people would be downplaying the Eagles opponents, saying it’s too early, and they would still be talking about the Cowboys even if they struggled. Let’s pick up this conversation in December, but really enough about the Cowboys. They are not the Eagles measuring stick. Like two playoff wins in like 30 years. They aren’t relevant.
brkmsn
I feel like Hurts has begun the season in a bit of a slump. He's still very young and has to learn to manage all the things that come with success along with continuing to improve as a player. While that's not any different than any other player in the same situation, it might be distracting to a guy that has always been so focused on one thing. I know Hurts had a few business ventures, some acting roles, new endorsements, a girlfriend and a contract extension all in the last year, as well as charitable events and whatnot. So there might be a bit of overload going on. I have a feeling things on the field will start clicking soon and he'll be making the plays and decisions we saw routinely last season. When he gets on a hot streak, it just seems to keep going. I also feel our defense has been pretty darn good considering the injuries we've had so far. I'm sure some fans aren't all that impressed, but with our offense not really clicking, it's been the defense that picked up the slack. Thursday we saw Swift really give the offense a spark and all of a sudden, the line played much better. If we can get Goedert involved more and a couple more guys as well, things should get easier.
