Im actually surprised by the reaction of posters on this board who spend weeks claiming free speech rights then when a black athlete says something they dont agree with then all the sudden free speech goes out the window and public apologies are in order to soothe the offended.

Some athletes are just dumb and don't have the intellectual capability beyond a 12 year old. Stephen Jackson said he wasn't familiar with Hitler, Kyrie Irving thinks/thought the world is flat, Ben Roethlisberger has the IQ of a lightbulb, and the list goes on. You can blame the system of teachers/coaches passing guys in high school and college just because they're good athletes, even though some of them don't have the reading comprehension beyond that of a 5th grader and can't tell you what the ninth month of the year is. But a lot these guys are just stupid. And almost all of them have a public platform where they can spew their foolishness. It's a combustible formula. 

I don't think DeSean hates Jews and is an anit-Semitic person. I just think he's too dumb to realize the historical consequences of what he posted and how offensive it is to some people. I'd also wager that there's probably a 75% chance that he has no idea what the Holocaust is. I think this was done out of sheer stupidity rather than hatred. It's not an excuse, but if that's the case it's better than him actually being educated and aware on the topic and having an opinion that it's okay to endorse a quote that he thought was from Hitler. 

I don't think cutting him solves anything. Educate him, tell him why he's wrong and offensive, and move along. 

It's also why I say that people put too much credence into what athletes/celebrities think politically and on a human level. Most of these people are too far removed from normal society, or in DeSean's case, just too stupid to have a platform.  

The NFL should have a twitter/instagram/FB class. Rule number one is don't quote Hitler.

He was a temp purchase, to squeeze out what he had left in the tank.  His role this season will be to help show the ropes to the younger guys (along with Jeffrey).  Any productivity they can get out of either is great, but both have health issues are are toward the end of their careers.  They will need Reagor and another young WR to step up.  They brought in a bunch of new WRs to see what sticks.  

Jackson had a great week 1 last year.  If he can contribute about 12 games that's about what you'd expect and anything more will be a bonus.

This is an example of reverse racism. If this was a white player..saying sh.. about black..anything...he would be Gone instantaneously. So why is De Sean still on the team????  I think 100%, that he should be cut...But we are living in a Twilight zone..where if you are not crazy, then you are no longer part of the community. Yes lots of question marks.  The point is, there is a mix of veterans and rookies so they're not putting everything into rookies, nor are they relying solely on veterans.  And you expect a 1st round rookie to have an impact.  Ward I say veteran, as he's been in the system for 3 years albeit on the practice squad.  I believe that familiarity helped him step in and make plays whereas Hollins and JJAW did nothing.  If you want to split hairs, fine he's not a "veteran."

I hope this turns into a learning moment for Desean. I do not think he understood the reaction his post would cause. He has a large audience because of who he is. He needs to do a better job managing his communications.

I agree with everyone who posted. I mean, who is right and who is wrong? The way these past few months have gone anything is possible. I need an island to get away from all of this crap. Anyway with that being said I think Lurie and Roseman are simply waiting for their time to do something; whether it's days or weeks.
