I'm not black or Jewish, but I see two salient points to consider here.

First, DeSean obviously was feeling empowered enough to casually make a hateful, divisive statement quoting a madman who murdered millions of people.
What is it that made him feel comfortable enough to seize this opportunity to post a condemnation of "white Jews" at this moment in time?
Stupidity is not a defense. He was motivated enough to make the statement and he owns it.

Could it be the same zeitgeist that foments rioting over white cops killing black people yet ignores black people killing black people in far greater numbers?

Let me be clear - I'm not anti-BLM's cause - but is their focus selectively narrow to suit a different agenda? Is it justice they seek or simply power and revenge?

If DeSean is forgiven and not penalized, I'd be fine with that. I believe it's up to Lurie and Howie, who are Jewish, and whose business it is to run the team, to make that call.
Keep in mind (as I'm sure they are) that if they fire DeSean (as I'm equally sure they're tempted to do) they will no doubt trigger accusations that his firing is proof of what he posted.
DeSean has put them in a no win position. Whatever they choose to do, he's already done damage to their people by rekindling the flames of hate and suspicion in the hearts of young fans who idolize him. I can imagine they're burning with rage inside at his ingratitude. I certainly would be.

The irony is that the Jews have always been the first to step forward and support black causes. And the black people turning against them are the black equivalent of klansmen.
They are racists, following the lead of bitter rabble-rousers with misdirected anger. Like many fanatics referencing religious tropes to support their half-a** theories, many follow  a self-created delusional mythology that they are the "true Israelites." So of course they need to cancel the Jews out of that equation.

Second, if DeSean is given a simple slap on the wrist, what happens to the next guy who makes an idiotic racist statement? How about the Eagles give him a pass because they gave Riley Cooper one. But issue a policy statement that anyone caught making similar remarks going forward is gone. Have them sign waivers accepting that.

And the league should follow suit, requiring all players to sign an agreement voiding any remaining payments due on their contracts if they violate that policy.

What's most appalling about this affair is the black players and commentators trying to justify what he posted.
Idiots feeling empowered.

Good Luck, America, in sorting this crap out..

Does that matter? He THOUGHT Hitler said it and thought is was a GREAT quote. It's what his motive is that matters. This is one STUPID Mo Fo. Period.

I mean, we all know that he's literally stupid, even by NFL standards, so this is makes perfect sense to an extent, but...

How do you know what he thought?

There's topic on Reddit now.  I guess Stephen Jackson came out supporting DJax's position and slamming the Eagle on IG....and Marquise Goodwin came out promoting SJ's post.  Pretty hot topic over there.  This stuff is crazy.

This world is nuts. Brees says what he did and he gets death threats and slammed. DJax gets people standing up for something horrible he posted.

Can't we just turn the internet off? Pull a plug somewhere?, Cut a line? Would fix a lot of issues with this world. Bring back the 80's

Lol well this thread was informative on some peoples views

If people weren't getting fired from their jobs for doing dumb ish under the guise of free speech like those folks from Franklinville, NJ, then maybe there would be some merit to this. Times are a changing and what you say and do holds weight especially if you are a representative of an organization that would find your actions detrimental to their integrity and bottom line.

It did happen.  Riley Cooper.  And he wasn't cut.  Jackson shouldn't be either, at least not for this.  I am ok with how it's being handled.  Defending it, is a bigger problem.

I remember Riley incident. A video mysteriously was shot and put by someone on the internet during a Concert. Yes it was bad. But I also remember Riley bending over backwards trying to accept the blame and correct what he said (N word), unaware of being video taped during a public concert. No one was secretly standing behind Jackson with the camera. He did it purposely himself, and in the process shamed the organization. I would like to see how Jackson will try to correct this, when this was his own actions.

Will DJax survive this storm?

You can take that exact same post and change "Black" to "White" or "Hispanic" or "Asian" and its still true. Its ALL people not just one race about freedom of speech and being held accountable for what you say. All races were enslaved at one point. Its not a one race topic. Its a ALL race topic. We are one and need to start thinking that way. Once people think that way it would be a lot easier to move on.

Oh because Cooper didn't know he was being video taped he didn't say the N word on purpose?

If you are at a concert it's a guarantee everyone has their video cameras out so no it wasn't done secretly.

He has unliked it now by the looks of things. But it does show that he doesn't realise what he said was wrong and the apology was to basically stop himself getting cut.

This is problematic. Drew Brees was completely inappropriate in his post about the national anthem. What he said wasn't racist, but it was inappropriate and incredibly badly timed right at the start of the Black Lives Matter movement.

But Desean's posts were just racist/anti-semitic. They were not borderline. And also quoted (even though it wasn't his actual quote), one of the most evil men in history who was responsible for the death of millions of innocent people.

I cannot believe people are trying to defend these comments as free speech. They are hateful (even if they were misguided). DeSean needs to be fined and educated and the Black Lives Matter movement needs to continue and move away from this.

I don't care what anyone says. Brees had the right to say and believe what he said. DeSean has the right to say and believe what he said. Its not my right to change their minds and make them have to have my view on anything. Its not my place or any ones to change that. To each their own.

In the end its just people are too sensitive and feel everyone has to hear THEM and follow what they think is right and there is no other view. As i posted above, this is were the internet has turned from a great invention to the downfall of the world(aka social media). And businesses and groups thrive off this type of media. That is where the true problem is.

Argumentative your honor. Move to strike. LOL. On the serious side..it is very hard to defend stupidity. But, There are many cases when professional athletes are deliberately targeted using fights, secret video cameras, and other. All I am saying, is that in Riley case one could argue that it was a result of intentional provocation, while in Jackson's case..there was no provocation.

I'm pretty sure everyone is being provoked right now lol.

What are you arguing man?  Yes, COVID is going to affect every team, every player.  Veterans recovering from injury, 2nd year players taking the next step, etc.  We've seen rookie receivers have great seasons for other teams, even Jackson and Maclin when they started here.  Sounds like no matter what anyone says about any WR you're not happy, I get it they were a problem last year.  They addressed it with a 1st round pick, 2 additional draft picks, a trade and they have returning veterans, and last year invested a 2nd round pick.  Lots of questions, have to see what sticks.

"I will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America or our country. Let me just tell what I see or what I feel when the national anthem is played and when I look at the flag of the United States. I envision my two grandfathers, who fought for this country during World War II, one in the Army and one in the Marine Corp. Both risking their lives to protect our country and to try to make our country and this world a better place. So every time I stand with my hand over my heart looking at that flag and singing the national anthem, that’s what I think about. And in many cases, that brings me to tears, thinking about all that has been sacrificed. Not just those in the military, but for that matter, those throughout the civil rights movements of the ‘60s, and all that has been endured by so many people up until this point. And is everything right with our country right now? No, it is not. We still have a long way to go. But I think what you do by standing there and showing respect to the flag with your hand over your heart, is it shows unity. It shows that we are all in this together, we can all do better and that we are all part of the solution.”

Yeah, what a monster, right up there with Desean...  🙄

I'm just saying let's curb our expectations for Reagor this year? It's hard for a rookie WR in a normal season let alone one with a messed up off season. I don't think there's anything wrong with saying that to be honest. It's the reality. I love the Reagor pick but I'm not going to have huge expectations in year one either.

It's kind of silly to expect big numbers from him. What I am excited about though is the dimension he adds to the offense regardless. The offense had that kind of speed at the WR position for 1 week last year and it looked pretty damn good.

I agree I don't expect him to have big numbers. If he put up 500 yards I think that would be a pretty good year, anything upwards of 500 in an offense that likely spreads the ball would be fantastic.
