  • I'm here, thanks VaBeach. I appreciate all the EMB members that support us in these days, I does matter. The members that support the other side… I'm speechless.

  • Propaganda? Or hard truths terrorist sympathizers don't want to hear?

Back to Stuffed Cabbage.  Didn't want to mix in CVON stuff when posting in TATE.  At the end of the day, this is still an Eagles board first and foremost.

stuffed cabbage is a better representation of the poster anyway.

The stuff coming out from this event is unbelievably horrible. Obviously, war is always hell but this seems to be right up there with the worst of the worst.  If the aim was to get the world's attention then I'd have to say mission accomplished.  Hamas needs to be dealt with once and for all and then hopefully a way forward for the Palestinian people can be sorted out.

It is not possible. Al Qaeda still exists. The Taliban still exists.

As long as one person is willing to use terror tactics, it will go on and on. There is no way to deal with any of them once and for all.

I'm only talking about Hamas.

I'd say at this point Israel is going to topple the Palestinian government and permanently occupy Gaza and the West Bank. The U.S. ad EU should stop recognizing the Palestinian State. The 2 state solution is dead.

As long as Israel exists, so will Hamas.

If recent history is any indication, most of the world will initially support Israel, then after around a week, the UN, Western European nations, and the U.S. will be calling for restraint and a cease fire.  You can pretty much set your clock to it.

Yes it would seem so at this point

Useful prognostication. We will check in Tuesday, 10/17 and see what the news cycle says. What news outlet is trustworthy wrt accurately representing the UN, Western Europe and US positions, in your opinion?

When will you switch?

Funny how your attitude to war crimes differs so much compared to when Russia is committing them.

It's like night and day.  I guess Ukrainian women and children don't count.

Sure but Hamas needn't remain at the same level of strength.  It can essentially be knocked out to the point that it will take years to gain back a level of strength capable of sustained action.  Naturally it will return or something else will fill the void but that's the nature of the beast.

It's really hard to come to terms with what they could have possibly been hoping to accomplish here. I've been trying to dispassionately comb out a strategy for a few days and I just don't see it.

I think they just wanted to kill a bunch of people or get to paradise trying - dooming a bunch of their own in the process along with any likely hope of an independent Palestine.

Maybe some outside influences goaded them into for their own purposes?

Yeah, I'm not really sure I understand what they were after.  I'm reading stuff now that just seems to be on another level even for terrorists.  Its off the charts.

Yea seems like the most plausible explanation.

Don't get me wrong, but be careful. There's a lot of rubbish floating around as usual.

That said, I already saw reasonable confirmation of things I was skeptical about because I thought were beyond the pale, even for Hamas.

I think we should stomp them flat, but it won't eliminate them. Won't stop terrorism there. That will go one for as long as there are people willing to do terrible things.

Good

Yeah I was wondering if the usual suspects would try to downplay the atrocities with "whataboutism"
