April 26, 20241 yr College campuses are always gonna be ground zero for protests like this. Having a bunch of students and professors arrested is kind of psycho though.

However, there are almost always going to be some individuals that cross the lines over into action that isn't acceptable and has to be managed. An example would be those few that actually hurl clear threats of physical violence. Another example would be blocking other students or professors from accessing buildings. Much of that crap might not be students in which case it should only be those non-student types that should be arrested.

All the time. There were war protests 30 years ago. There were war protests 60 years ago. I believe it is because war disproportionately effects college age population, as they are the ones typically sent into battle. Old folks can sit back and talk about it, while young folks are the ones who can be conscripted.
April 26, 20241 yr Maybe next time the protesters should take hostage a school with ar-15s cause then the cops would sit on their hands ala Uvalde.... All the 1st amendment screechers out there seem to be fine with this...

I’m pretty sure it’s easier to run the Emory Philosophy Department than the United States of America.
April 26, 20241 yr Waah why won't private colleges protect my first amendment rights to support a terrorist cult and call for the murder of all Jews and destruction of the US. Waah Get F'ed

IMHO we do want our students to be able to cause a stir by loudly highlighting a cause they are passionate about but there are clear lines which they can't cross and if they do cross them then yeah, find out.

The minute threats are being directed at other students, or people are being blocked from going to work or attending classes, the line has been crossed.

IMO, it's the same with any protests. have something you want to speak out against with a group of others ? protest all you want, i may or may not agree with your stance but you have the right to do so, just don't cross the line.

Waah Get F'ed I hate white supremacists but they have just as much right to voice their opinions as do people voicing opinions on Israel. Just because I disagree doesn't mean they have less rights than I do. Id like someone to tell me what the professors in the videos did wrong? Were the being violent? What makes it right to slam someone to the ground? Why do we never see this type of reaction from police when it comes to NSDAPs and others protesting? What did they do to warrant "f around and f out" - this is not me being a smart ass, if they truly did something I'm open to changing my opinion.

They have no constitutional rights to assemble on private land. That's the difference. If they're given a lawful order to leave, they must leave. I'm pretty sure the Charlottesville white supremacy people had permits.
