April 29, 20241 yr The pro-Palestinian protestors desperately want to be seen as civil rights activists of modern times. So they throw around words like genocide to try to inflate their own sense of self worth. How they want to be seen: How they're actually seen

But then Truman decided to drop atomic bombs on two urban areas, so the fire-bombing isn’t even talked about. Truthfully, I think using nuclear weapons on civilians is psychotic. Probably be an unpopular opinion on here, but whatever. Add it to the list…

The world was at war for years. If anything was learned is that these weapons should never be used ever again. Came by to say I’m betting these encampments at numerous universities (or at least some) will be gone this week with the end of semester and some of these kids have no idea why they’re even there.

I picked up my daughter today at her encamp…. er, I mean, college campus. August is seeming really far away right now.

I don’t consider WWII to be genocide with the exception being the Holocaust of course. At the Geneva Convention in 1954 they made an effort to define genocide if I’m not mistaken. And Gaza fits the criteria established there fwiw. If you need more help with this PM me.

Gun to my head I’m probably admitting that’s an impossibility without the existence of Israel. I still think a big part of the problem is U.S. foreign policy, not just Israel’s approach though. as far as presidential candidates go, Biden, while very pro-Israel, understands the need push back against Israeli aggression to a certain extent. While Trump is just looney-tunes pro-Israel no matter what. It’s not a hard choice for me there.

I'm not sure if I understand why you need a gun to your head about Israel, I'd think as a progressive you'd be more concerned with the existence of an Islamist caliphate covering 1/5 of Earth's population. I don't give a rat's furry glute about US elections, those people reap what they sow. Don't make too many assumptions about my loyalties. I've been in direct contact with two sitting US presidents, one former one, and two future ones, and the only one that impressed me one iota was the worst of the five, who smelled like peanuts for some reason. Or I could just be making all that up to impress Lindy Booth. Are you reading, you crimson-locked angel?

So just to make sure I’m reading this correctly: When we fire bombed Tokyo and dropped two nuclear bombs on Japan killing hundreds of thousands civilians in the process, not a genocide. But around 8,000 Gazan civilians dying in this war in collateral damage, with one of the highest combatant to civilian fatality rates in modern war history, that’s a genocide. Am I reading you correctly here?
