June 12, 20241 yr Remember, it's totally not about anti-Semitism. It's about settlements, and colonizers, and the Ottoman Empire...

Dave explaining how Israel wants to do genocide, doesn't want a cease fire, but how the two are unrelated OR.... are you moving away from your "Israel wants genocide!" mantra?

Even people like AOC are dialing it back some now, as the useful idiots are starting to see the company they are keeping. Dave is just following orders.

Both sides are easily swayed to authoritarianism and bigorty, and those lying somewhere closer to the middle on either side will apply the same convenient dismissiveness to the acts of extremists on the side they support while using extremists on the other side to pain the opposing movement with broad strokes.

I think Israel would accept a cease fire if Hamas releases its hostages, disbands, and allows for a new democratically elected government to take over. I doubt Bibby wants much of a cease fire. But at some point he's going to have to bow to pressure.

The moderate left has been anything but dismissive of the extremists on their side. I've seen them going after the far left with force over these last few months. The moderate right (if that's even a thing anymore) is either in the moderate Dem camp at this point or they're just keeping their mouth's shut and letting MAGA drag them around by their leash.

I don't think that's totally fair. There's a number of high profile conservatives who have consistently beat the drum against Trumpism. Many of them are at the Bulwark for example, and are former acolytes of guys like Bill Kristol. I actually attended one of their recent live tapings of their podcast in Philly and got to meet Judge Luttig. Was pretty cool. Anyway, you have guys like that & former guys like Paul Ryan and some of the other recently house members all of whom have gone on the record saying Trump stinks. To be sure though, none of the elected Republican members of Congress will publicly criticize their golden cow idol. They'd risk being primaried.
June 12, 20241 yr add to that list guys like Tom Nichols, David Frum, and David French. they're all considered pariahs of the right now because they dared criticize how Trump has turned the Republican party into a cult of personality, but they've been beating the drum.
