Why is that?

Actions have consequences...

I don’t usually watch NASCAR, but for whatever reason I liked watching them race on the streets in Chicago. Ā They were delayed by rain so rather than completing a certain number of laps they decided to end the race around 9:30 eastern.

So someone is getting paid to look through protest videos to see if they hear applicants saying something antisemitic?

Lol what's salary for that?

We run background checks on every hire. Most financial and law firms do. Costs can be anywhere form 10-100k, depending on the extent.

Whatever it is, it's too low.

Random thought that's a bit on and off topic. Have companies started using AI to comb through social media for job applicants yet?

I am sure some have, but most firms outsource this kind of thing to specialists. Kroll is one of the most reputable companies doing this, I would guess they are looking to integrate AI.

For sure.Ā  They use whatever is available.

My company is a leader in AI so despite being an integration guy I've dabbled a bit.Ā  Short answer is, not yet from what I've seen.Ā  (At least the Level 3 training I took didn't make mention of it)Ā  There are a LOT of HR AI applications being used, but it's pretty limited.Ā  Like, sorting through resumes to see if the candidate matches the qualifications or helping a employee answer in depth questions about their retirement plan without calling someone from HR.

Ā

The problem is, a lot of enterprises are shying away from the ChatGPT's of the world because there is no governance over the data they use.Ā  Those LLMs use basically everything they can find, so it can be poisoned with bad data, hate speech, etc.Ā  So mainstream companies are being extra cautious to limit what is in LLMs to make sure there is no offending materials, copyrighted materials, and the like.Ā  Google hilariously went overboard with this when they rolled out their image generation offering :lol:Ā

Ā

If I have time tonight I'll try to look up some materials since we are doing another in house AI challenge starting tomorrow and I was going to look through my notes anyway.

F it, I found a one pager on our HR assistant offering.Ā  I pretty much covered it since most of the bullet points boil down to:

Lowering costs (Ex: Eliminating some decision making done by HR folks, allowing for employee self service, etc)

Improved employee experience by simplifying getting HR answers they need.Ā  (I've used this in house and yeah, it's a LOT easier to navigate Workday using the HR Assistant)

Ā

Ā

I also demo'd our voice assistant a while back.Ā  One thing customers want is to be able to customize it so their voice assistant doesn't sound like everyone elses.Ā  What was freaking scary was how you could have anyone say a few words, and I literally mean 5 or 6 words, into the mic and the voice assistant would mimic that persons voice near flawlessly.Ā Ā

Yeah, that's something that is super cool technically but super not cool out in the real world.
