August 22, 20241 yr Negotiations between Israel and Hamas for a cease-fire continue to hit stumbling blocks, with the terrorist group’s leaders holding out for guarantees of safety among other demands. August 23, 20241 yr Lost in the discussion of the war in Gaza is that it really is the direct repercussion of prior "peace" deals that in retrospect have failed in whole or part. There was the disastrous pull out from Gaza by the Sharon led government under immense pressure from Condi Rice and the Bush administration. There was Oslo. And there was the peace treaty with Egypt in 1979. In retrospect, there were big holes in these deals. We saw how Hamas took control of Gaza away from the PA after Israel pulled out. Installing the PA led to the Hamas takeover. Egypt has proven to be hostile actor covertly supplying Hamas with weapons through tunnels underneath the border. The U.S. is complicit. Each of these "peace" deals were made with U.S. pressure. And now, the U.S. is turning a blind eye to the above. All just a snapshot of a small area of the Mideast - a Mideast which the U.S. has contributed to placing into a state of chaos through the years.
