So, uh, all of Hezbollah’s pagers exploded at the same time.

Like all of them.
At the same time.

So either the Mossad infiltrated the supply chain on this particular model or their cyber warfare unit hacked the retail units and figured out a way to remotely induce thermal runaway of the battery? Wild stuff.

  • I'm here, thanks VaBeach. I appreciate all the EMB members that support us in these days, I does matter. The members that support the other side… I'm speechless.

  • Propaganda? Or hard truths terrorist sympathizers don't want to hear?

Ok, I've seen images of some of the injuries, that wasn't thermal runaway on retail pagers. That was a purpose built explosive device.

Yeah, plus it Fs up the comms because anybody who’s pager didn’t give them a new a-hole just threw theirs away. And in the event of a ground invasion, any captive is gonna be all "no, I don’t work for that heinous group. Oh, that giant scar on my hip was totally from a motorbike crash.”

Ok.... the nerd in me has to know..... how?

When I think pager, I think this:

So unless what they are using is substantially different, there is no way that you could overload the tiny battery on it to cause it to make an explosion that big, right?

This is the pager I had in the 90s

Yeah, nobody fax with Israel.

Looked it up and it appears it was done via one of two ways:

Compromised devices\supply chain prior to getting into the hands of the terrorists.

or

Jewish space lasers.

Yeah I've seen images of fingers blown off. The power on those blasts seem to indicate a plastic explosive of some kind packed into each pager.

I had a pager in the 90s.   Not for phone calls but was hooked up to my cars alarm system.  My friend and I sunk a lot of $$$ into our stereos and after his got stolen (subwoofer, not head unit) in the school parking lot, I wasn't taking any chances with mine

Just saw Israel is coming out with a new Merkava tank, too.

From why I’ve been reading they sent out a mass message and then did it.

Yeah, the detonation trigger sequence  is trivial once you have physical access to each device. A small SoC that reads every number string, checks it against a whitelist and then passes it through innocuously if it's not a match. So 99.99% of the time, the pager looks and behaves like a pager. Until that one day it checks the number string, finds a match, then flips a relay (or however C4 detonators can be triggered) and boom.

I didn't actually have a pager in the 90's.  I was way late to any technology.  Didn't have a computer until my 3rd year in college.  Didn't have a cell phone until I was around 24 or 25.

Not that this is surprising, but Israel really dgaf about civilian casualties. Dudes exploding in busy grocery stores with kids standing like two feet away. Yikes.

One of the blast range technicians (former EOD) said the same thing.

In terms of military operations, the collateral damage rate on something like this would be pretty low when compared to conventional methods. I think I already saw a report of one girl who died, but drone strikes, car bombs, or even civvies getting caught in open-street crossfire are all worse.

Kz is very against civilian deaths, that's why he's voting for the guy that rewrote the rules for reporting civilian casualties from drone warfare.
