His main body guard was seen clearing out the leaders medicine cabinet literally right after his death. His regime was considered brutal in terms of how it dealt with the Palestinian people and he was know to publicly execute Palestinians who were involved in creating a peace with Israel. I think it's going to be rather important for Palestinians to unlearn the hateful, genocidal and barbaric elements within their culture going forward. I don't know about you but I'm not going to lend them an ounce of support until I see them as a people begin to conduct themselves as civilized human beings. No more from the river to the sea crap. It's a cry for genocide. No more terrorism as a means to solve your problems. It has lost your people nearly everything. And most importantly, no more teaching your children to hate Israel and The United States in school from day one. Palestinians need a cultural change. Like it or not it is a fact. A severe lack of quality leadership has left them in a position where they have lost land, wealth, health, personal freedom, and in many cases even dignity. Civil people don't rip down flyers of missing children. This is just another example. Arafat was a crappy leader who treated them like garbage. He was most likely assassinated in a power grab by other Palestinians. If he is reveared even slightly by the majority of Palestinians it simply proves my point for me.

They seem to have a population INCREASE going back to the late 90s. If you need it I'm sure we can go back even farther to find even more steady growth. Ethnic cleansing would suggest the opposite. These numbers suggest that with the help of a quality government a good education system maybe some improved health care and so on they could build a pretty good society.
