Jalen Hurts’ completion rate of 67.8% is four points higher than his career average and he is top-5 in QBR (72), completion percentage (75%) and off-target rate (9%) while operating inside the pocket. But he’s throwing outside the pocket on 18% of his attempts — the second-highest rate behind the Steelers’ Justin Fields — and his numbers dip dramatically (16 QBR, 41% completion rate, off-target rate of 24%) in those instances." The obvious answer is more quick throws. Will they incorporate this? I don't know. I do know that the offense has evolved a lot this year. More plays under center and from the pistol against the Giants. The use of VanSumeren as a fullback. Hurts has been good at running rpos, so maybe that is the answer. We will see what they decide to do this week. He bails too often. This is a byproduct of his turd brain. Watching him process a defense and where to throw the ball is like watching Kamala answer an actual follow up question.

I do wonder if they started another QB (say Hurts has to miss time due to injury and they started McKee) ... would the offense look different (better)? I'd wonder that too...although they'd start Pickett and he doesn't instill any confidence either...would rather see McKee if Hurts missed time but you know Pickett would be first up. Either way, it would be interesting to see the offense run with a different QB.

The O needs to use the middle of the field more instead of just relying on the home run. Jalen needs to be more decisive in his decisions.

Oh I know but I don’t think seeing Pickett would really answer the question because of how bad he is (that’s why I mentioned McKee).
October 27, 2024Oct 27 Much better. From the coaches too. Hope they turned a corner here and continue to improve.

Plus this year he’s been without his best weapons and blockers a fair amount. His accuracy is great. Just needs to get those reads going, but they were good today.
October 27, 2024Oct 27 The only certainty is that a different person will bump this thread as an I told you so for a different reason every week.
October 27, 2024Oct 27 Jalen with a 4td game leading his team over Burrow. First Eagles quarterback to win in Cincy. I’ve been critical of Jalen this season, but he’s been protecting the football over his past three games.
October 27, 2024Oct 27 59.3 air yards (per NGS). I believe this is the longest pass (air yards) of Hurts' career so far. So much for "noodle arm."
October 27, 2024Oct 27 Jalen Hurts in 2022, QBR 68.3, rating 101.5. Jalen Hurts in 2024, QBR 69.6, rating 98.6. Obviously not a great start to the season, but he has really turned it around the last three games. He played the games he needed to play against teams with bad offenses and good defenses, and then today he went out and put up a great effort against a team that can score points. Overall, a lot to like.

Overall, a lot to like. These last 3 weeks he’s done what most of us said he needed to do… Look after the football. In fact the last 3 weeks I think he’s had 1 turnover worthy play? And that was today and there was only the 1. He’s been so much better at being smart but also then making the big plays with his arm or legs when needed.

October 28, 2024Oct 28 First game he looked like a 50mil qb. Best game since the SB and has been protecting the ball. The Cleveland game was eh, the giants game was very efficient...today was excellent football.

Some will never give Jalen any props for his arm, but even his biggest critics have to admit that he put that ball right where it was supposed to be.
