May 17May 17 Sports History:How many cases can you think of an athlete being so superior that the league has to make a rule against them?I'm not talking the Peyton Manning/Tom Brady rule to protect QBs from getting hurt. I mean we have to change rules to protect other teams from this player.Mel BlountThe Mel Blount rule was the after 5 yards no contact DB rule since Mel was murdering WRs for years.FWIW Bradshaw, Stallworth, and Swann took advantage of the new rule and they won back to back SBs with the addition of a deep passing game.Wayne GretzkyThe Edmonton Oiler Rule was that offsetting penalties on a power play would no longer result in those players leaving the ice.5 on 4 power plays turning into 4 on 3 meant Gretzky was probably scoring on you.Next up: The Jalen Hurts RuleButter Soft NFL GMs want to protect themselves from Jalen Hurts unique power at the QB position which makes the Eagles pushing forward deadly.Every team is free to try it but none of them have Jalen Hurts.
May 17May 17 Hurts has good players! No fair!He can never be great like Peyton Manning who had to grind it out with Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne!Joe Montana had to throw the ball uphill both ways and only had Jerry Rice and John Taylor at WR in his peak late 80s!Poor Steve Young only got 3 seasons with Rice and TO. He had to get by with just Rice before 1996. If only he had good players...Also... Joe Burrow won a Heisman Trophy!... with Jamar Chase and Justin Jefferson at WR.

But KC hadn’t allowed a 100 yard rusher in their last 18 playoff games.Football is a team sport and There are not enough defensive pieces on the board, and in order to prevent a 100 yard rusher they divert resources from other defensive areas and as a result make that area more vulnerable … exploitable. It is like a water balloon. Squeeze it and it bulges out in the areas where you aren’t squeezing.Fangio’s 4-2-5 light box scheme takes pass rushing resources away from the D Line and adds them to the Back Seven. That takes away the quick release slants routes that have killed us in the past. But it only works because the makeup of our Front Four is such that it needs no supplementation. Carter at the core, with Davis in running downs and Williams in passing downs is an ideal mix. I suspect (opinion) that Carter with Davis and Robinson is going to be even better. Add in incredibly fast and quick Ends like Smith and Hunt and you have a front Four that needs no blitz supplementation. As a result the back 5 is a 5 rather than a 4, and as a result Fangio’s zones have (almost) no seams.Back to the offense, KC’s desire to have no 100 yard rusher means AJ and DeVonta are almost always in Man coverage, which they regularly beat. Double up on AJ and Devonta and the ability to control Saquon’s gaps becomes suspect. Bottom-line it is pick your poison.

People have been proven right, and wrong when it came to Jalen Hurts. Bottom line is he’s the only starting quarterback in Eagles history to win the Super Bowl. You can’t take that away from him. In the end regardless if you’re a fan or a hater, Jalen Hurts gave you a super bowl victory. We can debate all you like about if any of those other quarterbacks people fawn over would do what Jalen did, but that doesn’t matter either, because those guys aren’t here and who is to say any of those guys has what it takes to play quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles and this fan base. Close the book. Jalen is a proven winner. But, now I want another SuperBowl.I mean . . . Eli Manning has 2 SB wins and Patrick Mahomes has 3.So, giddyup. Let's go.

Let me which one of those other guys that are supposedly so much better than him did that.

In 1961, he tackled Jon Arnett by the face mask as he ran at full speed down the field. Arnett lay motionless on the field after the tackle, and the play left a lasting impression.[39] The following year, the NFL adopted a rule prohibiting the grasping of an opponent's face mask.[40]Lane's practice of tackling opponents about the head and neck, which was then a legal technique, was sometimes called a "Night Train Necktie". It later became known as a clothesline tackle and prohibited.[41] He later explained the rationale for his practice of necktie tackling:My object is to stop the guy before he gains another inch. ... [I]f I hit them in the legs they may fall forward for a first down. ... I grab them around the neck so I can go back to the bench and sit down.
