I mean, let's say a QB throws the ball at 2.88 seconds in a clean pocket, but that pocket would have been clean for another 6 seconds ... that would mean the throw lowers the average pocket time because the time can no longer be measured. On the flip side, if the QB is about to be pummeled at 2.9 seconds, getting the pass off (if not a turnover) would be a great result. There are many other things to consider such as if the defense is attempting a pass rush (like on a 3rd and 30), is using a spy, etc... I think it's an interesting stat when combined with all the other stats, to help explain what an offense was doing, but not so much a definitive one that measures direct success of an offensive line.
