March 31Mar 31 Just had an idea. Once the Eagles Super Bowl LIX ring replica is available on Amazon, I'm going to buy one and send it to Joe Schoen at the Giants facility with a 'Thank You Giants" note, courtesy of the Eagles Message Board. After all, he earned it!
April 2Apr 2 2018 was a very different time. I'd avoid buying Chinese replicas during a trade war with an actual Gestapo randomly enforcing whatever punishment they want.

The thing about a trade war is that even if that brings manufacturing back to the US, it doesn't just happen instantly. Assuming tariffs are long term and US based companies start producing more products, it may be years before these "Made in USA" options are readily available. I think we've all bought junk "made in China" that was cheap and, knowing that, still didn't meet our expectations. I decided a few years ago I'd rather pay a few dollars more for comparable American made products. Unfortunately, finding them isn't always possible. Even products made by US companies are mostly, if not completely outsourced and still arrive with "Made in China" labels. With electronics, I've bought products made in South Korea instead of China when possible. But when it comes to these "replicas," our choices are to spend slightly over $1000 for the official cubic zirconia "fan" version that will only be made for a very limited window or to buy a cheap $25 Chinese knock off that we don't have to worry about. It's not something that will ever get produced here in the USA once they stop taking orders for the $1000 official replicas. When it comes to buying a Jersey or something like that, I definitely think people should avoid the unlicensed knock-offs. I believe a lot of that (official stuff) is made in Indonesia FWIW. But if you know you would never spend $1000 on a SB ring, but want one as a gag gift, the knock-off is the only option that makes sense. It won't be the only thing we buy still made in China.
April 5Apr 5 True about tariffs not being 'overnight' fixes. The thing I find a little bit interesting is that manufacturing in China is no longer the bargain it once was and other countries have gotten into the act. TP-Link routers have been in the news lately. I'm pretty sure they're made in Vietnam. Western Digital has a large manufacturing facility in Thailand. China does have a larger & more modern infrastructure than most Far East countries. Parts of China's manufacturing may even be more modern that much of the U.S. manufacturing infrastructure.

I have been a HUGE Barkley fan since his high school days and even I doubted it was in the best interest to sign a RB with that kind of miles to such a large contract (and couldn't be happier to have been proven wrong! ).

Eagles had other key weapons who were huge.

Maybe Joe Schoen bounces back from the Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley mistakes. Howie has made plenty of mistakes, particularly in the draft, particularly, 2020 NFL Draft. Mistakes include drafting JJAW instead of DK Metcalf, signing Wentz to a big contract, re-signing Bradberry, signing Huff, drafting Reagor instead of Jefferson, and drafting Jalen Hurts (considered a mistake at the time). Howie came back with a vengeance and responded very well to the mistakes since 2021 and has built one of the best teams ever. A lot of us Eagles fans wanted Howie fired after that.Since 2021, Eagles have been one of the best drafting teams, Super Bowl contenders every year, traded Carson Wentz, which essentially got them AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, Jalen Carter, and Cooper DeJean, traded up to get great players in the draft, traded for AJ Brown, CJGJ came back last season. He more than made up for the Reagor/Jefferson fiasco. Remember, Howie had to crawl, fight, and earn the job he got now since he wasn't a football guy before he wrote tons of letters to teams, wanting/begging for a chance and being hired by the Eagles. Not to mention, Howie fixed the mess Chip Kelly made and won a Super Bowl 2 seasons later. In an alternate universe, if they did fire Howie Roseman after 2020, maybe a different GM would have Carson Wentz or a drafted QB from 2021 NFL Draft or maybe an average QB like Jimmy G or Kirk Cousins would have starting QB in 2021 instead of Jalen Hurts. Maybe this new GM doesn't grant Wentz's request to trade him. If they did try to trade Wentz, maybe they don't get the compensation they got for him, Saints trade likely doesn't happen with a different Eagles GM. Would that GM try to get this team better as much as Howie has done? In this alternate universe, Eagles could be a team like the Jets or Panthers and the team who hires Howie Roseman could be the present Eagles.

T2R pretty much nails it. It worked beyond anyone's wildest dreams and I loved every slice of humble pie I ate as Saquon rolled over the league. Not sure that's the greatest strategy over the long haul, but they nailed this one. Hat's off.

Hat's off. With the rules skewed in favor of passing, defenses were transitioning to lighter, faster players. Made perfect sense to buck the trend and build a power running game with an oversized OL. Signing of AJ Dillon during the offseason is consistent with that theme.
