April 15, 20242 yr Trying to get this back on topic... For work I have to deal with a lot of Bay Area politicians, Oakland in particular. The complete 180 they are trying to pull on policing is pretty amazing. People who voted to defund the police in 2020 and 2021 are now cheering Newsom for sending CHP officers to Oakland because the police are overwhelmed. The complete breakdown in public safety has drastically shifted the narrative. The mayor of Oakland is facing a recall effort over it (she voted to defund when on the City Council).

When the left starts to push back on men competing in woman's sports is when we know the tide has shifted back.

The whole sanctuary city proclamations kind of blew up in their face too. I don’t necessarily have an issue with cities not spending a ton of resources going after illegal immigration, but they pushed it too far. I don’t necessarily like the way the GOP shipped tons of illegals to those cities, but they surely made their point.

That stuff makes for good headlines, but I think the 2 issues that people really care about on this stuff are safety and education. Safety: People in cities, mainly Democrats, have had enough of being afraid. If people are afraid for themselves and their families, then nothing else really matters. The progressives push to defund the police and elect DAs that won't prosecute has blown up in their faces. The Oakland mayor and the Alameda County DA are facing recalls. The DA in SF was recalled, and we tried to recall the DA in Los Angeles (he likely won't win re-election in 2024). The left got way out over its skis here. Education: There was an actual referendum on Algebra this year in SF -- liberals stopped offering Algebra to 8th graders because they thought it was boob (too many white and Asian kids), and voters passed a referendum demanding it be offered again. SF Board of Education elections last year saw liberals that tried to end merit based admission for gifted programs thrown out. Asian parents in particular led the charge.

DC still hasn't made a stance change and already doubled the amount of juveniles killed since last year.

That’s a far left thing too isn’t it? I have no problem with the notion that a persons brain may not always match the body. However, regardless of that your brain tells you, if you have the body of a man, you have no business competing in women’s sports. It’s about safety.

A complete and total disaster. But, yes, I would agree he was a great politician and campaigner. That’s the point: it doesn’t matter how good the candidate is on merit. Romney was the best candidate from meritorious perspective we’ve had since at least GHWB. Clearly, he was totally out of Obama’s league. But it just didn’t matter. The years go by but your "Libertarian" entertainment never gets old

Despite all of the nonsense conversations that happen on this board I consider only a few people to be truly politically radical and insane. You're #1 on that list. So..... your assessment only makes me more confident.
