TEW is generally looney tunes but he’s right about Israel.

We agree on a few things, but we’re so far apart on everything thing else that I seriously question myself when we do agree.

HOW DARE YOU, SIR.

Arthur's taste in ladies is beyond reproach.

Despite all of the nonsense conversations that happen on this board I consider only a few people to be truly politically radical and insane.

You're #1 on that list.

So..... your assessment only makes me more confident.

The country has moved more to the left on basically every issue and has gotten worse in basically every facet.

Crime is worse, the economy is worse, the social norms are worse, the regulatory environment is worse.

Is there anything that is actually better than it was 20 years ago?

Even a broken, burned, crushed, crack smoking clock like you can be right once in a while I suppose.

Truth be told, I hesitated posting that before I said "f it, it's the political sub forum of a professional football team's unofficial message board"

I disagree with a lot of Moss's opinions but I don't see him as a radical loon. Just a firm leftist who spends too much time on a college campus.

TEW is nuts. The dude lives in an alternate reality that he firmly believes is real. He's closer to EagleVA than any other poster here.

Even Arthur Jackson.

Trying to get this back on topic...

For work I have to deal with a lot of Bay Area politicians, Oakland in particular. The complete 180 they are trying to pull on policing is pretty amazing. People who voted to defund the police in 2020 and 2021 are now cheering Newsom for sending CHP officers to Oakland because the police are overwhelmed. The complete breakdown in public safety has drastically shifted the narrative. The mayor of Oakland is facing a recall effort over it (she voted to defund when on the City Council).

It’s too late. Who in their right mind would ever move back there?

Tell me this alternate reality I supposedly believe in. Let’s go through it and see what is a straw man, what I actually believe, and which of our world views has more evidence behind it.

Careful, lest you mistake my mistrust of Israel for not seeing them as the best of a lot of bad options.

We live in a world that has threads, and those threads have to be populated by men with a perverse intellect.

Who's gonna do it? You? You, @prophet215?

I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for CVON and you curse my off-topic posts.

You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that my incessant trolling, while annoying, probably saves the EMB; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves the EMB.

You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me in that thread -- you need me in that thread.

I use words like "boner," "minge," "bagel." I use these words as the backbone of a life spent wasting valuable time online. You use them to play Wordle.

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to posters who rise and sleep under the blanket of the very hilarity that I provide and then question the manner in which I provide it.

I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a thesaurus and post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think you're entitled to!

When he decides to make a semi-serious post and weigh in on an issue, Arthur is 1000x more sane and rational than TEW.

Crime (Not just a drop in violent crime but property crime is also on a similar downtrend, while murder rate is on a slight uptick due to the pandemic but still far lower than it was 30 years ago in the 90's):

Economy (pick a different metric if GDP and strength of USD isn't good enough for you):

Social Norms:

No metrics. Entirely subjective, some worse, some better, I'd wager anyone who's a minority or gay/lesbian would laugh at the notion that social norms were better 20 years ago. But if you're an overweight, low-T, raycist incel, I can see why you'd be struggling to deal with things now vs 20 years ago.

Regulatory Environment:

Subset of the economy as stated above and largely subjective as many regulatory agencies are necessary and have no viable alternatives.

Jesus Fing christ you idiots are so full of yourselves. 🤣🤣🤣

Imagine how well the republicans would do if they were just normal. If Mitt Romney were to run against Biden he would win in a landslide.

Hilariously enough, the incredibly moderate Joe Biden once told a group of black people that Romney would literally re-enslave them if he was elected president.

Spoiler alert: any republican running for president will immediately become literally hitler as soon as they're the front runner. In case you haven't been paying attention for the last several decades.

Was that before or after Trump accused Obama of being a secret muslim who wasn't a citizen? It was definitely before Trump said if we re-elect Biden we won't have another election ever

Gee, I wonder what impact massive police shortages in virtually every major metropolitan area has on crime statistics? Probably nothing, here's a graph saying don't believe your eyes trust government statistics, comrade!

Totally normal for a vice president to tell a race of people they are going to be re-enslaved! Just a little hyperbole!

Quick, say something about orange man to distract from how stupid you sound right now.

I won't speculate definitively on the reasoning out of ignorance of the topic, but the violent crime rate - especially homicide - spiked during the pandemic for whatever reason. And it's normalizing now.

If I had a gun to my head, I'd say that pandemic conditions caused stress and strain on an individual level to be quite inflated, pushing more than typical numbers of people past whatever their individual breaking point was to express violence.

Either way, during the pandemic violent crime rose precipitously, then dropped at a similar clip as society normalized.

Partisans who baked into their thinking that it was all Joe Biden's doing won't be dissuaded, but truthfully at this stage all we have are theories. Crap-bag DAs in various cities certainly didn't help, but they also cannot be blamed exclusively.

Bad news gets reported faster.

You still need to face facts; there is less war, you are safer, wealthier, and better off in almost every way, than from any mythical past time period when everything was great.

Such a time has never existed. Ever since the first proto-human bashed another one's head in with a rock, to take what they had, or because they just wanted them gone.

It is a deadly world. A scratch can still kill you, but most of you know what to do about it, and have the supplies on hand.

Violent crime is more in your face, because media is in your face. We do it to ourselves planting screens in our faces 24/7. Everything is painted today so that every criminal, every illegal, is a monster out to destroy you and your way of life.
