Cash is becoming less and less common around the world.  The latest figures from Australia show that only 1 in 7 transactions is a cash transaction.  Here in Sweden it is far less that that as far as I can tell.  Obviously, the usage of cash is down everywhere in the modern world.

The only thing I use cash for is tipping on restaurants.

Time for crypto!!!

I’ve noticed a lot of old people still use cash.   But for me it’s zero percent.  Even to pay somebody $5 I use Venmo or CashApp.  I usually send my college-aged daughter money using Zelle.

What the F is cash, bro?

I use cash when dealing with my friends businesses and with most small service based businesses. Helps them avoid credit card processing fees and is easier to hide from uncle sam.....

A lot of places will just flip the device and ask you for a tip when you use your card. Doesn't happen when you use cash

It's not 0%... Maybe 10%-15%? Some of the mom & pop shops nearby still prefer cash, like BFit says to avoid card processing fees. And I keep change in the car to feed parking meters. That's about it.

I rarely even carry cash, I keep a bunch in the house for the kids when they go out with friends or something.

There is only 2 times I use cash

1) if there is an upcharge to use a card

2)

Otherwise, you are foolish not to use a card and collect rewards.  Retailers bake in the cost of using CC's into their prices, so by using cash you are paying for a service you are not using.

Yeah, I use a CC with a good rewards program for almost every transaction I make. I carry that and a debit card.

yeah I also use cash if I'm paying a family or friend to do work for me. I don't even write a check then, cash is king there.

as long as you carry no balance month to month, this is the way.

I get 4% back on restaurants, 3% at the grocery store. got over $2k cash back last year.

to be sure, the credit fees are factored in to the cash back. but at least if you get it you're offsetting the increase from everything running on the credit networks. it's convenient as hell too.

I use cash only when the place I’m at only accepts cash.  I rarely carry cash and pay the credit card balance off in full each month.  I always take the rewards points when I can get them.  My kids aren’t in daycare anymore, but when they were, the place allowed credit card payments.  It was a nice chunk of change, so the rewards added up.

Yup.  My two main cards is my discover card and costco visa.

I use my Discover as my primary since there are 5% promotions plus 1% on everything else.  Then we use the cash back to get gift cards that have things like $20 gets you $25 to max out the value.  (Lowes tends to be the top one for projects around the house).  Current balance is 14k because we just replaced our AC and heater

Our Costco card is really good too.  4% back on gas and EV charging, 3% back at restaurants and travel, 2% at Costco and 1% on everything else.  What's really nice is at the end of the cycle, if its enough $$$ (I think over 500?) you can do a direct deposit.

Also, if a card is lost or stolen, it's easy to get your money back. Cash is gone forever.

I had a card stolen by a trump supporter once (I know this because every transaction was a fast food purchase). As soon as I noticed what was happening, the card was canceled and I got a new one with the charges reversed a few days later.

I've started using cash as much as possible after talking to our friend's 17 year old son.  Dude said he knows a lot of kids that take the cards you give them at the drive through or where ever and tap their little reader thing on their phone and they take out really small transactions on a regular basis and no one notices.  I'm way too clueless about what's being charged on my card.  Better to use cash instead of handing my card over to some teenage scumbag.

I know someone whos never had a credit card.  They act like it's some sort of point of pride.  I think it's really stupid given:

Yes there are definitely some who still think that CC are the devil.  While I agree that they can be if you aren't disciplined, with the rewards that some of the good ones offer, you'd be silly to not use them.  Our primary card is an airline card and we fly several times a year just on mileage.

Doc, Sam's Sub shop is still there, and they are cash only.  I use my debit card for alot.  Cash only when have to , which would be less than 25%

Edited to add:  I was using some cash I had in a safe that was for Mr. Di's benefit.  After all his medical bills and stuff were paid I had about $10K left. Seems dumb to leave it in a safe instead of investing the rest but I used this as my safety net. I just used the last of it to pay for my daughter's bridal shower. It took 4 years to spend it.  If it had been in my bank account, I probably would have spent it quicker.  It disciplined me more, and since I have no debt still, I should look into a credit card and make something back now.

the one old guy on my bowling team carries a ton of cash everywhere and thinks we're stupid not to. it does come in handy though, since the bowling alley will only let you pay for you league fees in cash anymore (bowlero sucks). he handles the money and gives us all change since no one carries exact cash.

I usually use mobile apps for places with drive thru. I pre-order so when I get there it's ready.

original Savor card (not SavorOne which gives only 3% on restaurants) https://www.nerdwallet.com/reviews/credit-cards/capital-one-savor

does have a $95 annual fee but I more than make up for that in the extra 1% at restaurants. we eat out too much, but I'm just leaning into it.
