And that's why online banking is also disabled, other than for the checking account.

Anything else requires a phone call.

Do you mean instead of getting a text with the code you choose the phone call option?

That way he gets to talk to people back home

I require them to get a verbal authorization. The only computers authorized for online banking are my home and office PC, but that can’t move more than a certain amount without verbal confirm.

No. My investment accounts do not allow any trading or money transfers unless I speak with my banker.

It’s called having a private banker you poors.

Your security phrase better be "New England Clam Chowder", then when prompted for the Red or the White, you have to instead answer with, "I can never remember that... White?"

I have used exactly one check in Sweden and that was back in the 80s.  No one uses checks over here.  Been that way for decades.

These days, I write three of four a year against my US accounts for stuff like gifts to my nieces/nephews, fees for fantasy football, etc.

I'd say we also write about 3 or 4 checks a year. Just wrote one to pay for my new roof, and I couldn't remember the last one I wrote, probably also for some sort of work I was having done to the home.

do hookers take cheques?

You have to write checks if you want to reserve most places in Alaska. That was a shocker in vacation planning.

I won't put Venmo, Zelle, etc. or even a banking app on my phone. Know people who have had their phones stolen/taken and someone got the passcode.

I was beaten into submission with venmo. I hate having it on my phone

I only write checks for taxes. So I can mail them when they're due. Govt takes 2 wks most years to deposit them.

Last check I wrote was to a tree service, a few years ago. Hardly ever write them these days.

It always makes me laugh when people are afraid to have banking apps on their phone. There's so much security built into phones and apps that it just takes a little common sense and you won't have any issues

somebody's gonna steal your phone & pay rocky dennis to unlock your banking apps for them.

People who want to be paid in cash are tax cheats for the most part.

That seems like a lot of work for very little reward, Mike

Have you been to the doctors?

We can hold up paco’s av. Piece of cake

I rarely if ever use cash.  I rarely have cash on me.  Part of the reason I like using my credit card is I track my spending on a month to month basis in a spreadsheet, broken down by spending category, and using a credit card makes it very easy for me to do that as I can go on the website and see my spending.

We were away for the weekend and I had a neighbors kid water our flowers when we were gone and I paid her $40.  I had to borrow the $40 from my 5 year old’s wallet, dude has $120 in there!
Also slightly worried that my son has a future in loan sharking.  When I told him I’d be borrowing $40 but I’d pay him back as soon as I go to the bank, his reply was "if you borrow $40 from me, then you need to give me $100 back”.  Ummm no short stack I don’t think so.

You get a steak sandwich from Pats, you're paying with cash
