Accidentally paid it forward this morning. I am not a morning person, but I can't stand wasting time on vacation, so I usually plan to get up early. In any case, these parking meters turn on at 6 AM, so I've been waking up to feed them. I am definitely not fully functioning at that hour, though, and I realized that I paid for the max. of 2 hrs. for the meter behind my car this morning.  Enjoy it, buddy!

Hawaiian farmer's markets>all other farmer's markets.

Very pretty there!

Daughter and bf are in Vegas.  Hopefully not getting married….yet.  They are going camping in Zion Park Utah on Fri/Sat, driving to San Diego Sunday, back to Vegas next Wed and home  Thurs and then moving in together next weekend.

As you know daughter is a huge Dave Matthews fan and we are searching for another roadie to do this year.  We’ve done the Gorge out in Washington State. SPAC in Saratoga Springs NY, and Alpine Valley in Wisconsin. Stayed In Milwaukee and also did Summer Fest.  Took the high speed ferry across Lake Michigan to Muskogee MI for a day trip.  Sea Hear Now festival Asbury Park, NJ.  All good times.

There’s a casino resort in Oklahoma that looks pretty nice in October-but I’m not ready to fly yet and the nearest airport is Dallas. Not going there!   May go to Syracuse show in August.  Looking to also visit another Great Lake and stay in Oswego NY right on Lake Ontario.  Seems an easy drive. No planes. Anyone been?

I've never been to Oswego, but Upstate New York is nice, and it is an easy drive.  I typically drive from Pike Creek to Buffalo, and if I have a full tank of gas, I can eat lunch at noon in Delaware, and then eat dinner at 6:30 in Buffalo.  I drive fast, but you should be able to make it to Oswego in 6 hours or so, even with a quick stop.

If you do go to Oswego, I suggest saving toll money and possible traffic issues by not taking the Northeast Extension, and taking Route 15 from Harrisburg to Williamsport and Corning, NY, and then going through the Finger Lakes.  The scenery is great, and you can stop by a few wineries.  NY Route 14 up the western side of Seneca Lake is a particularly scenic drive.

My wife has worked in travel for nearly 20 years - she always said the Dominican was the armpit of the Caribbean  Maybe it's popular because it's cheap/crappy?  I don't know.  I remember a bunch of people being poisoned at resorts there a couple years back.

it's cheap and so am I. We're already doing the grand canyon & the wife is talking about Greece next year.

If it's just you and the wife Secrets Royal Beach.  Adults only, good food with fine dinning for dinner at different restaurants.  Wife and I stayed there maybe 8 years ago.  Only cost us $350 (flights and hotel for 3 nights) though because of her travel benefits at the time.

We do a family vacation somewhere every year for a week and usually wife and I will do a Caribbean vacation without the kids for 4 nights.  In desperate need of one since we missed out on one last year thanks to COVID.  So nice getting away without them and being waited on hand and foot for a change.

The brand new Hyatt property is supposed to be nice. We were going to vacation there a couple of years ago until people started dropping dead in the DR

This is the adults only side

Nice.  I’ve been to Hawaii twice, but only to the Big Island.  It was so fun both times.  Never had a bad day there.

We basically did a week in Oahu and a week on Kauai. Doing it over again, we'd take the whole two weeks on Kauai and just chillax. It's much more of my vibe here: laid back, beautiful scenery, and very culturally Hawaiian. Honolulu was cool, but kinda hectic and stressful. I had to get there to see Pearl Harbor, though. Sad to go, but we'll be back. Already looking at rooms for next year, lol.

If I went back, I’d like to visit Maui.

I do hear very good things about Maui. Seems like a pretty chill spot. I believe that's @vikas83's island. Beware, the Poors are coming!!!

We did Honolulu and Maui. If I went back I would skip Honolulu and just go to Maui.
