April 25, 20223 yr To say the Grand Canyon is breathtaking would be an understatement to those that go there in person.
May 9, 20223 yr somewhat travel related...the wife & i are doing an overnight ghost hunt with some friends of ours in july at the cresson sanatorium...looks to be in the pennsyltucky region...out by altoona. should be interesting.

The Laurel Highlands are a legitimately nice area, and are a couple hours from Altoona. Fallingwater is the most famous attraction in that area of southwest Pennsylvania, but another FLW house, Kentuck Knob (Kentuck, not Kentucky) is down the road, and Ohiopyle State Park nearby is one of the best natural areas in Pennsylvania. I've thought about doing a weekend out there with some friends and touring Fallingwater and seeing the waterfalls in Ohiopyle. In Altoona, the Altoona Curve minor league baseball team (Pirates' AA affiliate, in the same league as Reading) has a nice stadium, with an interesting backdrop of a little amusement park past the outfield fence. There's also some good railroad history if you want to nerd it up, such as Horseshoe Bend.
May 10, 20223 yr A friend of mine is going to get married in Vegas in October. They have invited me to the wedding so I may be doing a trip. I've had a pretty bad 2022 so it might be something to look forward to. They live in Philly so I'll probably do a game at the Linc before flying to Vegas. I have only been to the stadium shop post SB so I haven't actually been to a game there before. Once the schedule is released and I have a few more concrete details on the wedding I'll probably start planning. I'm thinking Philly, Miami and Vegas are the three locks. I'll probably look at 3-4 weeks total and work the trip around the wedding.

If you are into white water rafting you can do that there as well.

Are they going there because they want one of those instant weddings at some random chapel or are they doing something different?

You're pretty sucky for timing They want something small and not a traditional wedding. I think it's family, a handful of friends and they were thinking something themed (not Elvis which I already asked). The last time I was in Vegas I saw the poker tables and buffets so it will be good to do something different. I'm trying to work out rough times without having a definitive date for the wedding. I'm thinking 5 days in Philly 2 in DC to visit a friend there 4 or 5 in Vegas for the wedding 3 or 4 in Orlando for Disney World and maybe Universal. 7 in Miami so I can visit my aunts friend and her husband. Last time I think I spent 2 or 3 days and could definitely do longer. Then maybe a week somewhere else I haven't been before. I'm thinking one of Nashville, New Orleans or Hawaii. I'm also open to suggestions. Last option is I move into @Reddens RV and get the top bunk while having to listen to him and Harley bang geriatric style every night

I'll be there for American Labor Day, but would definitely be open to heading back in that October timeframe if you go that route.
May 12, 20223 yr I'll be in Alaska for Memorial Day weekend. Everything between Seward and Denali N.P. Any suggestions for anything? Things to see? Restaurants or bars? Among other things, I'm making sure to visit Denali N.P. and Kenai Fjords N.P., and am staying in Talkeetna for a night, so I'll visit Talkeetna Roadhouse for a beer to see an authentic Alaskan roadhouse. The Alaska Baseball League starts a week after I leave, so I won't get to see that game. Some time, I'd like to go to the Midnight Sun Game in Fairbanks.

This sounds like a winner I'll probably add some extra time in Orlando then. Is there anything to do there other than the theme parks and maybe a Magic game? My timeframe is pretty loose, I just started a new job a couple weeks ago freelancing 3 days a week. It ties into our football season which finishes in September. I'm not sure how much work there will be when the season is done. I'm also working 2 days a week at the job I left in 2019 training up people to do my old job. That contract is due to finish at the end of September. I'm honestly thinking of extending it out even further since this is the first time I may not have any work commitments in over a decade. Normally I finish at one place and start at the next right away
May 13, 20223 yr It does look so great! Thanks to all of you for sharing so I can see it. Lord knows I may never make it there. Ireland and Italy would be the 2 countries I would love to visit as they are my heritage. Enjoy! Safe travels!

Normally I finish at one place and start at the next right away I've really only done the parks owned by Universal. I went to Disney a few times when I was still a kid, but haven't been to any of them since reaching my teens. I think Hunt was planning a trip to Disney a few years ago, and many of the vets on here were posting all sort of information about navigating the parks, rides, having everyone in your party reserve a virtual line spot for different rides so they could actually hit multiple things in a day... they made my fantasy football spreadsheets seem like pulling a Redden and just auto-drafting. Because of that I've kind of been scared off from trying to figure that out. I've been to Magic games, but I feel like the NBA season keeps starting later and later, so the October window may be a little tricky unless it pours over into November? Beyond that I admit I don't have much experience. There's probably 1000 golf courses (I feel like Tiger has always been based out of that area).
May 13, 20223 yr We drove from Dublin up through Belfast and stopped at the Titanic museum. We are staying in Northern Ireland around Giants Causeway for a few days before heading down to Connemara. Pics of the castle are Dunluce aka House of Greyjoy from GoT. Shot of tree lined road is Dark Hedges aka Kings Road in GoT.
May 16, 20223 yr Transatlantic Flight? 2-3 hour car rides a couple of times a day? Strict feeding and nap schedule temporarily disrupted? What’s your take on Ireland baby girl? She’s such a trooper

May 19, 20223 yr Those of you who have recently traveled the world with little ones. How do you manage the car seat? I'm assuming most just rent a car wherever they are and bring their own? Curious if Uber even has a carseat option and how available it would even be in Europe. Anyway, doing a week in Dubai and a week in Portugal shortly with a 1 year old, this seems to be the biggest obstacle or question mark.
