Tweaking the 2024 Roster / Practice Squad (Ongoing Thread)

PS is on constant turn-over.  Players were signed, dropped and re-signed, and repeat.  Tough to live on the end of the bench, no matter how the teams to paint a positive image.

I'm kinda glad they didn't make any moves. I want to see what this young (especially the Defense) can do over the rest of the season.

Spend your $ and draft picks (duh) on younger players.

I'm sure they'll hope to get him on the PS.

It's easy to forget, we actually traded for this guy and he's played 47 snaps on offense in 2 years, he hasn't even played significant time on ST's, I'd love to know why we felt trading for him was necessary, with guys like Cameron Brate, Maxx Williams, Kyle Rudolph and Anthony Firkser available as low cost Vet FA's with starting experience.

Probably similar to having dealt for Avery ... probably saw something in the player they thought they could develop and turn into a player.  Both failed attempts.

They essentially traded a seventh round pick for the guy (a sixth in exchange for a seventh equates to that in terms of value but allows both teams to still own the same number of picks they had before the trade.) Complaining about that kind of value feels a bit silly to me. You may as well complain about Dylan McDermott then since he cost the Eagles even more in terms of draft compensation.

Late round pick for a guy with great size and athleticism for the position. He was a lottery ticket that didn't hit.

Yep --- just a pick swap and the pick hasn't even happened yet (2025). It's no big deal. He added competition for over a year and during that time Calcaterra has really improved.

If memory serves me correct at the time a lot of people were pretty high on him he had the most yards of any te that preseason and a couple people thought with his size he might really turn into something.

sorry I thought the thread title said "twerking"

He’s been activated right? And was designated as an estimated full participant on Monday.

I personally think the better move though is to hold him back and give him that mini bye.

He's had over a month. If he's fully healed, why should he need more time? 100% is 100%.

Never understood that line if thinking... If hes cleared to play what is the sense of waiting another week? Lol. You cant get anymore healed than healed lol

Exactly.

Just a reminder: We tried to fully rest Jalen's shoulder before the playoffs in 2022. We only needed to win 1 of our last 3 games to get the #1 seed and the 1st round bye. We ended up having to play him the final week to get that win. That bye helped us get and remain healthy through the postseason. Last year, we started 10-1 and then lost 5 of our last 6 games. Even with the collapse, it was possible for us to get the #1 seed on the 2nd to last week  if we won and had help. It didn't happen and we limped into round 1 with the #5 seed, on the road, without AJ Brown, without Reed Blankenship and without getting Hurts practice beforehand because of the dislocated finger he suffered on the final week.

The point: You can't throw away any opportunity to win games until that #1 seed is locked up. HFA is great, but that 1st round bye is huge! If a player needs to sit out a game to heal, that's life. But you can't be over-cautious while wins still matter.

Agreed and I know hamstrings can be tricky and can linger but, its not getting anymore healed just doing walk throughs and light practices. Like you said we need these games especially against our division opponents and the NFC since we already have 2 losses there. So having mailata sit another week out of precaution on a cleared injury is just asking for trouble.

If he’s 100% then yes I agree but at this point do we know that he’s 100%?

Do we know if any starter is 100%?
