Everyone's overreacting right now. It's a bad/tough loss for sure, but it's only been 2 games.

The defense concerns me still, but they are actually improved from last season. 1. They should've just paid Reddick. And 2. This bend but don't break seems to break at the worst times.  Hurts never should've had to get back on the field to lead a comeback drive at the end.

No pass rush with a DC who refuses to let his DBs play physical with WRs. A defensive scheme that allows huge holes in the run with no edge support due to CBs and safeties constantly being 10+ yards away from the LoS. No coverage diversity, no creative disguised blitzes. Just sitting back and letting the QB/WR do whatever they want and watching your defense get gashed by outside runs. This was last year’s cardinals game all over again lol. Have a chance to make a statement in a week your rivals lose and you collapse

An offense who has almost zero creativity compared to some of the top offenses in the league - with the most offensive talent by far.

Same mentality and same flaws as last year. Siri has to go.

I know I said this last week but I feel the same is still true… Yes it is just 2 games and early in the year. Yes a lot of teams are playing bad football right now and are not firing. But are Chiefs fans concerned? I’m sure they are confident they’ll fix the issues. I’m sure Niners fans feel they’ll fix the issues. Even Ravens fans because I’m sure they weren’t expecting to start 0-2. The thing is the problems we see with our team were the problems we were all concerned about. It isn’t like things are happening with this team that we weren’t expecting.

I was fully expecting a run and my heart sunk when I saw Hurts rolling out to pass...my first reaction was "wtf are they doing?!"  But, if Barkley catches the easiest of passes, game over.  It was an aggressive "win the game" play call with the fail safe of Hurts eating a sack and running the clock down before kicking the FG.  Can't fault the logic.  Players have to make plays.

That said, this team has major concerns.  The offense looked lackluster without Brown last night...so missing one player and the O downgrades significantly.  Hurts again made another ill-advised throw to end the game...they needed about 17 yards at that point for a decent long FG attempt, but Hurts decided to make that throw.  Idiotic.

The defense is flat out terrible again.  Bryce Huff is stealing money, Carter/Davis are non-existent, zero pressure on the QB, can't stop the run, can't defend a pass except for Mitchell.  Where were the LBs this game?  Just awful.  Hard to know if it's scheme or talent or both.

Very real chance we will be 1-3 at the bye week, particularly if Brown remains out.

I just can’t understand why he made that throw. He was facing pressure and in fact I think even got hit? We only needed about 20 yards to get in to a long FG range and we had a TO left. Just take the underneath or simply throw the ball away.

Idk why people think we’ll get a consistent pass rush when our DBs only play in reaction to the WR. QB/WR can keep their timing for the most part against our defensive Philosophy. We’re sending 4 and they just always can have their 5 OL and a chip because our DBs are so far away and they know when their guy will be open lol. This is why we lost the SB. This is why we collapsed last season and it’s why we’ll have one of the most embarrassing seasons again with more talent than ever.

0 adjustments on defense once again.

When you see how the coaches want to play the game - it makes me understand why Hurts plays the way he does. Our core of getting to the SB was amazing situational football.  Neither coordinator or head coach cares about this anymore - and it trickles down to the players. God awful situational awareness everywhere.

Honestly that lost is exactly what the organization needed on such a special night.

Not only should they not have passed the ball, but they should have gone for it on 4th down. Kicking the FG was totally meaningless. The Coach blew this game at the end.

Matt Ryan, Peyton Manning and Eli Manning were all stunned by Eagles' decision to pass

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/matt-ryan-peyton-manning-eli-094554634.html

Matt Ryan, Peyton Manning and Eli Manning started a combined 782 games at quarterback in their NFL careers. They've been in plenty of late-game situations where managing the clock is paramount. And they were unanimous on Monday night that whatever the Eagles did while leading late against the Falcons, they should not risk stopping the clock with an incomplete pass.

Ryan joined Peyton and Eli on the ManningCast, and with the Eagles leading 18-15 late in the fourth quarter, all three were warning Eagles coach Nick Sirianni not to call a pass.

"I don't think the ball's going in the air again," Ryan said at the two-minute warning.

But Ryan was wrong about that, as Sirianni called for a third-and-3 pass that Eagles running back Saquon Barkley dropped, stopping the clock and handing the Falcons 40 extra seconds in a game that they'd end up winning by scoring a touchdown with 34 seconds left.

The Manning brothers thought that was the only way the Falcons could win.

"Think they'll get the ball back, Peyton?" Eli asked on the broadcast as the Falcons were using their final timeouts.

"If Philly throws it," Peyton answered.

"They're not gonna throw it," Eli scoffed.

Ryan agreed: "This ball shouldn't go in the air the rest of the game"

Both Eli and Peyton thought the Eagles might try the tush push on third-and-3, and then go for it on fourth down and try it again if the tush push didn't gain three yards.

"The push is coming. You can't throw it here," Peyton said.

The Eagles did throw it there. Incomplete, to stop the clock after the Falcons had used their final timeout.

"That's why you don't throw," Peyton said. "Kirk Cousins is over there celebrating. As soon as he saw him drop back, he said, 'Yes!'"

The Eagles' pass attempt was one of the most shocking decisions of this young NFL season, and a decision that three quarterbacks who have been in that situation before were begging them not to make.

Do you know what yeah I can see that. I mean Hurts possibly felt like he had to go out on that final drive and win the game. Why? Because of the awful situational decision on the previous drive.

Fangio and the defense collapsed, no doubt.

Sirianni is 100% responsible for 2 game losing decisions.

1. Not kicking the chip shot FG early.

2. Not overruling that late pass to Saquon and ordering a run play late.

I don't mind spreading the blame around, but the CLOWN of a Head Coach the Eagles have is a straight up embarrassment every single day.

3. Not going for it on 4th down after the Saquon drop. Kicking that FG was totally meaningless.

4. Poor clock management. Running the clock out should have been the goal there to win the game.

But Nick isn’t special so why would we expect him to correctly manage those situations?

What would Matt Ryan know about that... He had an entire 4th quarter to just run the ball

Siri, what was the worst loss in Eagles history ?

” Giants 56, Eagles 0, October 15 1933.”

@mattwill

Saints 57 Eagles 0  it’s going to be ugly.

Does Siri coach the defense? Siri didn't drop that red zone pass either. It's only 2 games and fans are all end of the world. If this team is still stinking it up after 8-10 games, I'll understand the whining. Right now it's too early to call anything.

It was on Saquan Barkley for not making the simplest of catches! He catches it, Eagles win! Everyone in locker room needs to yell at and get on his sorry arse and never let him f'ing forget it!! Never trust him like this again!!!!

You are correct- if he catches that simple pass, Eagles win, game over. But in the future, i see Siri getting fired, and I see some desperate changes at the D line by adding KNOWN commodities. Jordan Davis is a BUST. Flat out. Carter is a joke, too. Howie is whiffing on all our 1st round picks, yet everyone calls him brilliant. He is not. But Howie put faith in these players, and the players turn out to be NFL busts.

I did not expect a good start for defense or offense. Too many changes. It's like a car mechanic changing an engine and installing a turbocharger, and the owner thinks things will be great. When in reality you will be lucky if the car starts. So far it is what I expected. But one big minus.... is.... I thought that Vic's is a better caller than previous DCs. What I see  instead is a soft scheme that other teams will exploit. No pressure on opposing QB. CBs are 8 feet off the WRs?!? No jamming the WRs?!?  If the defense continues like this...It will be a long season.

I see a defense ANYONE can beat. How many "bend but don't break" D coords have we had the last 10 years, 4 or 5? And they all sucked. Where is someone who who has a tough, REAL defensive scheme? Why do the Eagles repeat this scheme, over, and over, and over again? THAT is insanity. They won't win very much with Fangio's D. Also, all these #1 picks on the D line are looking like BUSTS. Jordan Davis is a big pssy. Never has done anything in the NFL. Carter is looking the same. Georgia hype machine spits them out.

It’s not two games. It’s the Philosophy thay lost us a Super Bowl. The same one that had us lost 6/7 last season, and the same one that makes us play down to our opponents constantly.

Most of their chunk runs were to the boundary for a reason.

no one is going to look like a good pass rusher when the WRs aren’t knocked out of their timings with the QB.

I’m blaming the philosophy over the players 10/10 times here. We’ve been figured out and Siriani has refused to change anything

Problem is we're seeing a trend from Hurts that's not good, dude plays hero ball too often, there was no need for a 40 yard pass, 15 yards and they would have been well in range for a game winning field goal.......dude's situational awareness is lacking bigtime, it's like he doesn't think at all.

Siri and Fangio deserve some blame, but they can't tackle for these guys.

Aren’t they the leaders of how we’re supposed to play?

If there are consistent themes through multiple players - I’m going for the leadership and coaching styles not getting their culture into the game. It’s been proven this is a consistency at this point. They’ve made it to the NFL - they can tackle - the positions they’re put in often has them chasing from bad angels. The defense doesn’t dictate or force any will on the offense. It’s passive and thus the players are a step behind. When a tackler is a step behind, they resort to arm tackles.

Brilliantly said.....its not the same mentality and flaws as last year...its at least ten years now of the same old defense and bend but dont break philosophy....so no matter who the DC is...the strategy remains the same....I hope people see now that its not the coaches...its the entire offensive and defensive philosophy.....

I have been saying the exact same thing for awhile now....its not the DC its the same philosophy and strategy and all they do year after year is appease the fans with switching them out knowing damn well they aren't going to change a thing.....

Yeesh, bad loss.

Now they will have to make that up by winning a game that should be an L.
