Thanks to @ToastJenkins for restarting The Beer Thread here, but I thought we ought to also have a Whiskey Thread as well since it seems there's a good number of us who enjoy an assortment of Whiskey.

First up is 3 Blended Small Batch Scotches from Douglas Laing.  I get these from NJ's biggest craft beer distributor, which they now also are into lots of small batch and craft liquors as well.  The Epicurean is a blend of Lowland's liquids and it's citrusy and floral with a hint of honeysuckle.  Big Peat does have ample peat flavour on it, but it's not overpowering.  I really love the flavour on this one and imagine it'd be a perfect sipper on a cool night by the fire pit.  It's a blend of Islay Single Malts distilled at Ardbeg, Caolila, Bowmore and Port Ellen (not familiar with that one).  Lastly there's Scallywag, a blend of Speyside Malts.  This is the richest of the 3 with notes of dark cherry and caramel with a slight hint of peat as well.  All totally different from one another, but each is very good in its own right.

I also snagged a bottle of Eagle Rare, since we only get one 6pk case per month (along with a 6pk of Blanton's).  Excellent for the price.  Really smooth.  Also snagged the Willett Rye since it was the first time we'd gotten it and again, only a single 6pk case.  I made a couple Manhattans with it along with Antica Formula Sweet Vermouth and Fee Brother Black Walnut Bitters.  Turned out quite nice.

Buy Scapa Reserve 16 years (Orkney) Whisky online

I prefer either a mid range type like Macallans / Glen Garioch or a lighter Islay like a nice Bowmore/Oban.  This Orkney above is one of my favorites.

Typical ManU, one of my UK buddies is a ManU/Shandy fan.  Must run in the lot.

I also break protocol as I like a cube of ice in my whiskey be it scotch, bourbon, rye, etc.

I'm not actually a ManU fan anymore bud.

And I don't do lager shandy! That is a massive offense! :-)

Fair enough.  Are you a Citeh fan now?

edit: I had a shandy once in my life as part of a 18hr 16pint bender that started down at Upton Park with a Hammer buddy of mine.

No just not really much of a soccer fan anymore. As the years have gone by my interest in soccer has massively faded and my interest and passion for the Eagles keeps going up.

16 pints in 18 hours? Tut tut! My record is 12 pints in 4 hours. Then another few pints and then we went out for the night.

Well that was plenty for me.  Those weren't wimpy 4% pints either.  I typically went for the higher 6% types.

Nice work bud! I don't drink lager very often these days. Tend to be a craft beer man so lots of IPAs etc and they tend to be stronger.

I think the total was 14 pints of some robust ales, 1 snakebite, and 1 lager shandy.  My Hammer mate had a couple more in there and may have hit 20.  We ended up somewhere in North London and I had to walk 45 mins back to center city to a hotel I was staying in.  Made it though.

Oooh a snakebite? Those are lethal! Fair play to you my friend. Can't say I've been in the Upton Park area. London can be a good night out if you find the right area to go to. If not then it can be a bit of a disaster.

We were only down there for the 12noon game and because he loves West Ham.  It was the season that they started requiring IDs matching names on the tickets to get in.  We thought we could figure out a way in but we couldn't.  So we just went to those really really dodgy West Ham pubs before the game started and then left the area after everyone piled into the stadium.  We were in some really nice party areas of the city for the rest.  I remember it was a Six Nations day as well so we spent a couple hours in one place watching England (if my memory serves me they were playing Wales).

Funny thing: My mate made me swear not to utter a single word in those West Ham places.  He claimed I'd be at quite a risk.  I told him they'd love me, an Eagles fan adopting West Ham (just for the day but they'd never know that) and wearing a West Ham scarf.  I took a look around once we got in and then kept my mouth shut.  Let's just say it wasn't a shining example of humanity in that place.  For example, the floor was dripping wet in stale beer and nearly all of the patrons had faces that looked like they'd been in more than one fight and were just a breath away from the next one.

Yeah I mean it's a notoriously bad area of London around Upton Park. Not an area that I would choose to visit and not one I'd go to drink in either! :-) But you had good reason to be there as you were trying to attend a game. But yeah Green Street is a real thing hey! Rough fans and they wouldn't take too kindly to an American in their pubs. Sad really but there you go.

For Christmas my daughter acid etched a Game of Thrones font decanter with the Eagles logo for my house.

It is currently keeping 16 year old Glenlivet Nadurra, cask strength, single malt.

I bought Collingwood just for the bottle years ago. It was ok. I'm not a big Canadian whisky fan though

That distillery is about an hour from my house... and yes, the bottle is pretty damn sweet.
