Bought a bottle of ardbeg wee beastie the other day. I've enjoyed it so far. Not a ton of barrel influence (it is only 5 years old) but a bunch of smokey, salty, meaty goodness. Actually didn't think it was overly smokey, until my wife kissed me goodnight and asked if I smoked a cigar earlier

Wee beastie is the best deal around in terms of islay scotch right now

I had the Rittenhouse Rye over the weekend.  That snuck up on me fast.  Definitely enjoyed it though.

I agree with toast. I got a bottle of lot b at MSRP ($100) last year through the state lottery, and while I love it, it's not worth 1k+, which is the price wooden cork has it at, per the email they sent me yesterday

Russell's Reserve 6-yr rye. was on sale, so I grabbed a bottle for a midnight toast. I'm still in the market for something a little more upscale, so I plan on tracking down either Whistle Pig or Boxergrail in the near future. This'll do for tonight, though, and should be a good standard going forward.

Nothing wrong with woodford. Try their double oaked. Does weller distribute in your state?

i like four roses alot but regular BT is my everyday

More rye spice than woodford but thats ehat i like

splurge on a bottle of Bakers if you see it.

i am loving the four roses snall batch select

Killed the four roses then had some weller SR now onto some Blantons

yup quitting until the super bowl

The PA Pappy bottle lottery is this week. I think tomorrow is the last day to register if any of you guys are interested. Create an account on finewineandgoodspirits.com and the lotto is under the "events” menu on the homepage. Been entering for years, haven’t been lucky enough to get one yet. Maybe this’ll be my year. Good luck if you decide to enter!

Grabbed a chance for the 15 and for the 10. I won a 12 last year. This is the only lottery I'm ever nervous about winning, because my wife knows how expensive the bottles are......

When you win the mega millions or powerball it shouldn't be an issue.

Been going back and forth in my head over if I was lucky enough to win the 23, would I drink it or sell it. A couple months rent, or one extra rare bottle of delicious bourbon?

So the PA lottery is it just for PA residents and are they selling it at the MSRP instead of the Black Market price?  Guessing yes on both counts since technically you're not supposed to transport alcohol between states.  I think it was last year I heard that PA troopers were waiting to pull people over coming back from DE (Total Wine) and confiscate their haul of alcohol.  Surprised they don't do it at the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge (Roger Wilco in Pennsauken on 73 as probably the majority of their customers are from NE Philly.  The owner advertises in every different language 'newpaper' in the area since it's so diverse.)

Was just curious how they go about it.  Interesting to me how things like that are handled in other states.  We've had some calls the last few days of people looking for Buffalo Trace.  We're out at current and our monthly 1cs deliver of it should come next week, along with Blanton's.  The following week all the major liquor distributors in NJ are closed for "Shutdown Week" when they have to close by ABC mandate so their books can be checked.  They do it again in August.  It used to be a 2 week stretch in August back in the day and that was a bit rough having to order a 2 week supply of all your basic liquor/wine.  Much better this way.

BTW, had the Smoke Wagon Uncut Unfiltered on xmas eve.  Had to work til 7pm then went over my sister's and my brother-in-law has really gotten into Whiskey/Bourbon/Scotch over the years so was like 'F it' and decided to treat myself and him.  Really good.  I ended up having 4 generous glasses of it.  He broke out an Angel's Envy and the last of the Singleton 12yr I brought over Thanksgiving Eve.  I left the bottle of Smoke Wagon there and hoping there will still be some left like there was with the Singleton.  That was the last bottle we had at the store.  Hoping to get another 6pk case soon.  Will have to ask the rep if he knows when it will be available again.

Yes, PA residents only, and yes, msrp. There’s only a few hundred bottles available. Funny you mention the Buffalo Trace. A guy from out of town just came into our bar yesterday and was telling me how hard it is for them to get ahold of it where he’s from. I’d never hear that before. From time to time when I order booze things will be out, but that’s one I’ve ever had trouble getting ahold of. Great stuff.

I am drowning in regular BT out here how much you want lol. cases on the shelf at Target for 23.

planning a spring run to their distillery and maybe one or two more. Woodford seems close by. Three hour drive I figure

I cant get smoke wagon need to go to Illinois

Go to woodford and get whatever 325ml bottle they have of their distillery series. It's pricey but worth it.

Only 78 bottles for the entire state of NJ, so we only got 1.  Retailing for $100.
