March 2, 20214 yr Actually got picked in a store raffle. Had MWND as my first choice so after months hunting it i suddenly have 2 lol
March 3, 20214 yr sampled a Wilderness Trail Rye - pass. lots of people saying its good, but there is something off about it. maybe its too young - had an astringent element to it i really didnt like.
March 5, 20214 yr Woodford double oaked was meh. Just overkill. No balance EHT rye however is a work of art

Texture feels watered down, vanilla so strong tastes like a liqueur, doesn't have much of a flavor profile. Do not recommend. I don't have the most discerning palate (I'm better at reviewing wine), but yeah, I found the 10-yr. on sale and didn't think much of it. It was ok, but i thought the 6-year was better. Oh, well, guess I'll use the 10 as my primary mixer going forward.
March 6, 20214 yr Yeah ive been using the wilderness trail to mix anyone tried chatanooga whiskey yet?

Man I had a bottle of the 10 and loved it. But I was on a big WT kick and was just being amazed at how much I enjoyed all their offerings I had. (Rare breed, longbranch, Russel's 10)

(Rare breed, longbranch, Russel's 10) I was inspired to go back to it tonight and, you know, it's not bad. Maybe just not enough going on.
March 7, 20214 yr Picked up a bottle of High West barrel select peat finish. The Mid Winter Night Dram and gin finished ones were fantastic. Looking forward to this one!
March 7, 20214 yr For anyone who uses sweet vermouth in their whiskey cocktails I cannot recommend this stuff enough Was using Carpano Antica but this stuff is even better IMO.

March 8, 20214 yr Whiskey: The Tyrconnell 16 Year Old Oloroso & Moscatel Cask Finish Single Malt Irish I had this yesterday. Being both sherry and moscatel finished, I expected to hate this for being too sweet. There are distilleries that know how to do this, and Tyconnell is one. Not too sweet. It made the Irish approach the complexity of scotch in the nose and palate. I don't know that it is worth the price tag. Probably not to me, but I didn't buy this bottle.

March 14, 20214 yr Author Had these 2 Bourbons the past couple days. First one I shared with my BIL for his bday on Monday night. For the proof it's smooth as a baby's ass. Then shared it with my BFF last night while the weather cooperated by the fire pit (first time I lit it this year) and she loved it. The Hunt & Gather the distro only had so much, but they gave us a heads up so we ordered several cases before it sold out. Just cracked it open tonight. Another one that's remarkably smooth for the proof. Only had 4 bottles left so had to grab one to try.

March 29, 20214 yr These are my 2 newest. Only had a taste of both. The jeffersons is very interesting and I need to try another glass to really nail down the taste. A little sweet, nothing stood out too much but I definitely tasted the brinyness of it being at sea. The makers has a ton of different flavors, but I was already pretty buzzed when I tried it and couldn't get a great read on it.
March 30, 20214 yr grabbed a bottle of this from the distillery near our mountain place. it's not a top tier drink like some of the others on here, but still a real smooth drink and i'm not real big on flavored whiskeys.
