Yeah baby saz is still setting the bar for a 51% rye. The new EC is almost as good really

i bought a case of baby saz that came out to 30 each. Goes for 50 on secondary

and that damn EHT rye is going for 170 on secondary now...

Also it seems Kirklands new whiskey lineup is sourced from 1792 if you are a fan

might actually be decent

Apparently they just did a Sazerac lottery in PA at the end of last month, but I missed it

Just got this in today.  Montgomery 5 Year Single Malt American Whiskey from Missoula, MT.  It won the Gold Medal at the 2019 Whiskies Of The World.  Only got one 6pk case as our liquor brand manager was only allocated 27 bottles.  Not expensive, either.  Retailing for $57, though some places online selling for $80 to $90.  Very very smooth for 90 proof.  Nice mix of flavours of caramel, baked breads and stone fruits.

Irish dude i know just opened his own private shop. going down sat to see what he's got coming. could be some stellar stuff but probably more focused on scotch than anything american

Anyone have experience with this? It was gifted to me by a friend.

I believe I had this at a local Sushi/hibachi place in Charlotte while I was waiting for my food at the bar recently.  I liked it a lot.  That's about as far as my knowledge goes understanding the different flavors of whiskey.  Good or not good.  This good.

Yup suntory is good

japanese whiskey tends to be light and kinda floral

Lustau vermouth from spain. 80% amantillado its different but good. Makes an interesting manhattan

picked up an Ardbeg Scorch over the weekend and managed to get the shop owner to part with a Weller Full Proof for MSRP. score.

also bought a Greenbriar Tennessee whiskey - hard pass. if you like JD you would like it, but not my jam. thankfully it was cheap

Solid get getting full proof at MSRP. Had that in Kentucky a couple years ago and loved it. Which ardbeg did you get?

Scorch is this year's committee release. havent opened it yet.

last year's was Blaaack and i was disappointed by it. Scorch is supposed to be a smoke/peat monster

Tasted an 1800 Cristalino last night and it was really good

Will have to look into that and see if it's available.

It's amazing how high end Tequilas have been in such demand since the pandemic hit.  Don Julio 1942 and any of the Clase Azul, specifically.

I am not well versed in tequila

one of best friends loves it so i am learning

I enjoy Reposado and Anejo Tequilas.  The kind you can just sip by itself.  There's been a good amount of them coming out the past few years as it's been the category with the most growth over that time, so the reps tell me.  Seems there's a lot of small batch ones now.  I also like Mezcal (very few have the worm) as they have a smokiness to them.  There's some good ones we've sampled and brought in the past couple years.  They tend to be more expensive than their Tequila cousins.

 my dumb ass read that as scotch and not scorch. Let me know how you like it. I'm due for a new bottle of scotch.

Haven't had Hiatus yet.  It's available to us, but that's one we haven't brought in and I don't recall a rep sampling it for us either.

Seems I missed out on the Ardbeg Scorch.  We were allocated just 2 bottles and sold them.  Must have come in one of the days I'm not here.  Damn.

First 2 pics are some of the higher tier Tequilas we have.  The Cantera **** line is good and they also make a Tequila coffee liqueur that IMO is better than the Patron XO Cafe.

Last 3 pics are most of the Mezcals we have.  The majority are higher end, but there are some reasonable/moderately priced ones as well.
