Oh, I did. It was quite nice,  but I would still dig a traditional sazerac cocktail. Seems interesting.

The peychauds bitters can easily overpower and ruin a cocktail. The absinthe isnt really a necessity if its a pia to get good stuff

I'll tell you what, though: Baby Saz makes a perfect Old Fashioned.

Any thoughts on Redemption Rye? I remember having it a few times at some nice bars, and it made a nice cocktail. Never had it neat, though, so I don't have a good sense of the quality and flavor profile. I'm thinking it might be my next buy once I kill off a bottle.

Michters small batch bourbon is a real nice sub $50 bottle.

Anyone try Stellum yet?

entry level product from Barrell

I haven't had their rye, but their high rye cask strength bourbon is really good.

based on this i picked up a store pick - quite enjoyable.

Stellum bourbon is nice. Not a Barrell fan generally but its a decent blend. For the money the Redemption high rye is better

Not exactly the trail, but a couple years ago me and the wife were in Lexington and stopped at a handful of distilleries; Buffalo Trace, Woodford, Wild Turkey and 4 Roses. We want to go back down again and visit more.

Would love to hit up BT and 4R

Had a trip canceled due to Covid. Was planning on splitting a barrel with some friends.

Just killed a Weller antique 107. So nice

ECBP B521 is better neat and people complaining about the low proof are morons. Its 59%

Larceny store pick for 30 is a winner

also snagged a B21 barrel proof

Almost time for allocation insanity…

Not sure what i feel like hunting yet

I am most of the way through a B521 ECBP. Have a backup bottle as well. Compared to itself maybe other batches were better but still hard to find a 12 year barrel proof that tastes like that for 60 bucks.

Not whiskey but the Cutwater canned margaritas taste pretty good over ice and they are strong…

We sell a lot of the Cutwater cocktails in a can, I think due to the combo of them being high ABV (up to 13%) and they are supposed to very good.  All the Margarita flavours sell, the Mai Tai, and the LI Ice Tea (which surprisingly is less ABV than the Margaritas) are the top sellers.  Since AB/InBev bought them (used to be part of the Ballast Point spirits line) they are putting a lot of money behind them and have made them a top focal point in their portfolio.  Kona, especially the Big Wave Golden Ale, and Goose Island, especially the IPA, are also big focal points for them.  Every time we get a visit from either the distro owner or some bigwig from corporate the merchandisers and brand managers come in to make sure we have displays of these.  Very annoying to have to change your store around for at most a half hour of a few suits walking around and mostly talking analytics amongst themselves.

Havent found the Transfusion to try yet but the margarita is a winner

now i am sipping on some EHT straight rye which is fabulous

still waiting for smoke wagon to come to IN
