I’m not a big liquor snob but whiskey is my go to. I mostly drink Jameson or Glenfiddich with a little coke or ginger ale.

Got this in this week.  Blood Oath Pact No. 6.  Retails for $99/bottle.  Got five 3pks in, each one in a wood box.  Might grab one down the line.

I heard people online talking about no.6 coming out. I'd love to get my hands on some, but it's hard to tell the wife it's only a $30 whiskey if it comes in its own wooden crate

Went to the liquor store this morning, and they ran out of Basil Hayden and Jack Fire.  I think the local Charlotte alcoholics are upping their game and treating liquor like toilet paper.  I think I may need to find out their shipment schedules.

Novice here. I've polished off a bottle of Macallan 12, Glenfidditch 18, and a Tomatin something since I've made the switch to Scotch.

I've been working on a Laphroaig quarter cask, but it's a little too smoky for my taste. Haven't really acquired that flavor yet.

Any suggestions on what to try next?

i really like highland park magnus for a cheaper single malt. also loch lomond isnt bad as a real budget single malt. its around 25 in PA. magnus is 33 i think.

picked up some Old Hamer single barrel rye. its great. its an MGP barrel bottled by a local distillery called West Fork

So if I read their website right, it's 100% corn whiskey aged in old oak barrels? I had a similar one from new liberty, but it was cask strength. Once you got over the burn it was all sweet honey and Carmel and was really good. You'll have to let me know how this one is.

No burn.  The owner is a friend of mine.  He knows his brown water.  He said with all brown waters, take a brita water filter and make the serving 20% filtered water (gets rid of the chlorine) and 80% whiskey.  Makes the flavor richer and kills the burn.  I thought I might have to do that with this one since it’s a mash, but it was as good a flavor as I have ever had.  He attributes that mellow to the heirloom corn.

I really love bourbon. Drinking one of my go-to options right now: Evan Williams Single Barrel.

That is all.

Thats a killable offense there...

got some Very Old Barton for my cheapass bourbon drinking friend that way i can hide my expensive stuff

its not bad on ice and i dont feel bad if he mixes it at least

I am not a drinker really, although I do toss some cold ones back occasionally. that said, I have been getting into whiskey. jameson seemed like a good starting point.

Took your advice and tried a Lagavulin 16.

Holy Ron Swanson, that's one powerful potation. Thank you.

I have one of those friends too. Usually have Benchmark, Ancient Ancient Age, or EW White label on hand for that same reason.

I’m not some snob but you pay all this money for whiskey or any liquor really and then cancel the taste with coke. What’s the point? That’s what plain old JD is for.

I see the same with people using expensive tequila in margaritas

I will use good rye in a manhattan but thats about it. but also drink it neat about half the time

gin is nothing fancy for a tonic. Same with vodka
