As a rye guy, I found the palate to be pleasantly spicy on Buffalo Trace, definitely seemed like more than 10%. Noticeable sweetness, too, which might be a little too dominant, but I kind of expect that with a bourbon.

But back to rye...gimme all the rye!

Well, I was going to drink a few glasses of bourbon tonight, but now I'm second guessing because I also love ryes. Starting with a glass of Woodford, pick my next 2-3 out of these....20220623_204405.thumb.jpg.8e5f3417400c55e2332c38ffd70b893e.jpg

Michters...I remember talking about that recently. I gotta get that one, too. I think it's on sale.

That Rare Breed also looks like it could use some attention :D

I saw the pics, looked like you earned it!

The Chattanooga BiB is really good stuff. Even better than the 111 proof

Got to taste an EHT barrel proof last night. Was amazing

Batch 10. Good luck finding one. Moved near the top of my unicorn list

This blue run high rye is excellent

batch 2

Tried this. Way too much maple, like drinking pancake syrup. Mixes well though. Might make a good dessert glaze.

I think 1.5 oz of that and 1.5oz of KC 100 in an old fashioned would be pretty solid.

I was in Atlanta for work last week and was finally able to get my hands on some Buffalo Trace.  I can't find it anywhere in NC.  Also picked up some Old Forrester Statesman and went through it quicker than @olsilverhair gobbles Knob...........creek.

My local store just had 3 Buffalo Trace on their special items shelf, limit 1 per customer.  It's crazy ever since that "Neat" documentary how their supply has been so short.

I'm close to KY and we haven't had it here for years either.  Just started seeing it more lately but still limited.  A local bourbon FB group posted a couple months ago there was a store that had a whole display with like 40 bottles.  They were gone in a day.

I was able to find a bottle of blanton's for 186 bucks in Chicago. Walmart as an entire end cap of Buffalo Trace for 27 bucks... went into the liquor store last week and they had 2 bottles of Eaglerare. Ended up buying both at 94 bucks a pop

Wow. That's a lot for eagle rare. I'm not a big fan of it for $35. However, eh Taylor is my BT weakness. Had a bottle a couple years ago at $35, but would easily pay more for it. That's one of my absolute favorites.

Speaking of, picked up a bottle of makers 46 today. Had it 10 or so years ago and described it as diet makers mark. Now, I had it with ice and I was just starting to drink non jack Daniels whiskey, so who knows how my palate was then. Figured I'd try it again. It's really thin. Not much finish at all. It's good up front, vanilla and wood, a little cherry, but just disappears after that. Very easy to drink at 94 proof. I hope it opens up a bit after sitting a little though.

I like 46, but haven't had it since they renamed it.

So buying 46 is just another step in denying what I like

I went in the liquor store just to see if there was anything interesting while I waited for my lunch. I saw 4 roses small batch sitting there for $34. One of my absolute favorite whiskey's. Ended up with 46 for the same amount of money, a whiskey I've had before (not for a long time) that I didn't really enjoy. That's what I bought over one of my favorite whiskey's......

I haven't had 4R Small batch in probably a decade. 4R was one of my first bourbon experiences, I always feel like it's "basic" to me now. But the small batch is good. Regular 4R is on par with Jim Beam.
