Little wild turkey rare breed tonight. Bought this bottle yesterday for the first time and it's pretty amazing. The mouth feel is unlike any other whiskey I've had, even other barrel proofs

I was considering a bottle of this but too many bad college flashbacks

It's nothing at all like wild turkey 81 or 101. It's brown sugar, cinnamon, and dark sour cherry at first and then all wood on the back end that just coats your mouth. (that should go to the mom thread....)

West Fork out here put out some MGP stuff at cask strength. Both the rye and bourbon are good but i prefer rye

That Rye-Ters Block sounds/looks good.  So does that 3rd Degree with cinnamon, simple syrup and dried chilies.  Damn, we might have to start trading Whiskeys as well.

Cheers! the handwritten numbers is a nice touch. Certainly something my poor a$$ has never seen 😄 Maybe after school and loan repayment I can dive into the world of small batch or single pot whiskeys that are much higher quality!

I will however pay up for a quality wine or cognac even today

I’m no expert but I taste and enjoy the difference over the regular bottle. But yeah for me it’s a special treat and not the regular. Especially because my wife doesn’t like it so it’s just me drinking it

I like good wine but I can't bring my self to buy a 20 dollar bottle of something I'll drink in a night as opposed to a 40 dollar bottle I'll have for a few months

plus alot let calories. BFit worries about his figure...

COVID made me a bottle killer. I have prided my collection of single malts - but finishing bottles gives me room for new stock.

Latest casualty: 21 year old Springbank, probably the finest whiskey I ever bought. Cringed at paying $90 for it. 5 years later I could have sold it open to a guy for $500

The 16 year old Springbank rum wood is on deck and almost gone.

time to see what the tuesday truck brought

Grabbed a Bakers 7 yo (the new version)

debated the Bulleit blenders choice instead but settled on Bakers as i have never had it

high rye all the way for me

Bought the Bulleit blenders choice 001 as well

I see that you are prepared for any rioting. I recognize the M&P what's the wheel gun?

The Bakers is very very good. Even neat i only feel the 107 proof on the finish. would highly recommend

Sweet

My son picked this up during a layover in Ireland, it reminds me of a less peaty single malt scotch like Dalhwinnie

I had way too much of that in the pubs in Dublin when I visited.  It gets sold here.

That's the first I heard of it, but I also concentrate more on Scotch than Irish whiskey.  FWIW my son asked his Irish bartender in Ireland for a recommendation and Teeling is what he came up with.  If you can't trust an Irishman, who can you trust?  I hope the bartender's last name wasn't Teeling.

No it's really popular there.  They have a distillery tour there as well as Jameson.  I get Teeling at my local liquor store here.  I just checked a bottle I have and it's imported through the US in Coral Gables, FL.

I was in the UK for work took a weekend in Dublin and hung out with a couple co-workers from there.  Irish people love to hang out in pubs and talk and get to know new people, very friendly.  Anyway they tell me about Teeling and start buying me drinks.  I got smashed, it was some kind of small batch higher proof or something I don't recall.

They said that Teeling isn't sold at every pub due to some kind of licensing deal or something (kinda how restaurants either have Coke or Pepsi).  Pubs advertise outside with a sign indicating they serve Teeling.  I drank a lot of Guinness and Teeling that weekend.

We want to go to Ireland so bad. It's on our "go before kids" list. I'm just trying to figure out how to lump in the islay region of Scotland

Been there twice.  First time was back in '89 with my dad and sister.  Spent a week there driving from town to town and seeing sights.  Beautiful country.  So F'ing green (in a multitude of different shades), really rather clean and seemed most people had a dog, which is cool.  Second time was in 2012 when I mostly hung out in London for a week, but took the train to Wales and the ferry to Dublin to spend a couple days there before heading home.  I'd love to go back.  If you have the chance, do it.
