Anyone ever try WhistlePig?  It's always advertised in the front of our liquor store.

I like it.  One of my local stores does free tastings from selections they have out, they'll often have that.  It's a little overpriced but it's good.

just grabbed a bottle of it, along with a JW Dant - both were 15$

grabbed a Wee Beastie too - opening that tonight

Got a bottle of Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Friday. Liked it enough to buy a second bottle today.

The Wee Beastie is excellent for 50 bucks. Will buy again

the JW Dant is an insane bargain. Easy to drink neat at 15 bucks

Awesome bourbon.  My friends and I have plans to play golf and do the tour there in the near future (as long as it's safe).

One of my favorites.  It's what I usually request in an Old Fashioned at bars.

For my 40th, I did some of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail with my friends.  A couple out of town friends flew in too.  We did Jack Daniels first and had dinner and I showed them around Nashville.  Then we drove up to Kentucky and did Makers Mark which was the best tour and highly recommended.  We also did Jim Beam and then Bulleit in Louisville.

Bulleit was a mixed experience.  They don't have a great working tour because they are using the old Stizler-Weller distillery temporarily until they build their own a little outside the city for more space.  They plan to do a full tourist deal out there.  However, the guide was very knowledgeable and taught a lot about not only Bulleit, but the history of bourbon itself.  And because they were in the Weller facility he did history of them as well.  Then at the tastings, they included Weller products and their own blend of mixing Weller with Bulleit.  They said they have a limited stock of it left so they space it out by doing the blends.  So I didn't expect to get to taste those different products.  They had a good gift shop though.  They did show one distiller for small batch but it was just in a boring room.  JD and Makers have their tours built well for guests.

JD doesn't let you take photos of the process which seemed more gimmicky because anyone who wants to can take the tour and steal their methods so what's the point.  Makers says take photos of anything.  They give you a label with a wax seal on it.  You see the famous bottling and wax on the cap that is literally done by hand all day not machine.  Kinda neat. They also have you put your finger in the mash and taste it.  They say no germ issues (pre-COVID obviously) because the distilling process will purify it.

We went for steak dinners and around different bars in Louisville and also went to the Louisville slugger museum and tour which is worth it if you go.  You see the bats made and get a free mini-bat and can order your own full size custom bat with your team and name on it for about $50.  I got one for my brother's birthday to hang in his bar.  There's some other cool stuff in Louisville as well, you'll enjoy it.

This all sounds like heaven to me.  Thank you for the advice.  I'm a big Makers guy....that tour sounds fantastic.  I'm also a baseball nut, so the Louisville slugger museum is right up my alley.  Our dream was to go to the Kentucky Derby in stupid outfits, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Also.......my wife just got back from the beach, and apparently the new craze is Skrewball.  I went to the liquor store today and bought 3 fifths of it.  There were about 40 cases piled up to the ceiling.  It's a whiskey that tastes like peanut butter.  It's not something to sip, so I moved it to my "shot" category along with Jack Fire.  Honestly it's pretty disgusting, but it does taste like peanut butter.  And chicks love it.

Skrewball is one of at least 3 PB Whiskies that I know of.  It's also the most expensive.  It does sell well.  I got to try a new Whiskey that one of the beer distributors now has (both the AB/InBev and Miller-Coors distributors, along with the biggest craft beer distributor,  have wine and liquors and are continuing to add more to their portfolio) that's chocolate flavoured.  It's not bad.  I don't think we've brought it in yet, but most likely will.  They want us to put it near/next to the PB Whiskies as mixing them together makes for a peanut butter cup shot.  Hey, if it gets customers to buy 2 bottles of Whiskey instead of just one and they want to pound BP cup shots, why the hell not?

I’m not a big whiskey/bourbon fan but I was in wine and spirits and feel like someone recommended it to me on the old boards.

New Bourbon Whiskies just arrived.  Smoke Wagon by Nevada H & C Distilling.  Vegas Whiskey!  Will try one at some point, but supposed to be good stuff.  Another brand from the big craft beer distributor that is adding on small batch and boutique liquors.

Been downing Wild Turkey like it’s water. I prefer a rye but given its high rye content it’ll do.

For a change up I picked up a handle of Costco brand Canadian Whiskey. Their quality is usually outstanding for their price but I made a mistake with this one. Should have just picked up some Crown.

GF and I split up so I think I may treat myself to a Lagavulin once I get settled into my new place.

Sorry about the gf, but laga is a solid consolation prize.

also if you like wild turkey, go grab their rare breed. It's becoming my new favorite

I’m almost out of my current bottle of Woodford Reserve so I need a new bourbon to fill its spot in the liquor cabinet.  Anyone have any good recommendations for something that is readily available in PA Wine & Spirits stores?

Can't go wrong there. I'd say rare breed too if you like high proof whiskey, but that can be hit or miss if it's actually available.

Four roses small batch is another good one to go for

I have Four Roses Single Barrel and Angels Envy in my cabinet.
