Although, I see now that it stands almost no chance of survival that you all are acting like you don't care. Well, the deficit for 2024 is $1.8 trillion. The Center for Public Broadcasting's funds is about $525 million. So sure, let's eliminate it. Congratulations, we've just reduced the deficit by 0.03%. This is akin to a water main break in your house, completely flooding the basement and into the first floor and steadily rising. And you call a plumber over to fix it, and rather than focusing his time and efforts on fixing the cracked water main, he goes into your master bathroom and gets to work on fixing your faucet which is letting out 1 drip of water every 30 minutes. Oh and then when you say to him, "hey, isn't the water main break the bigger issue? Shouldn't we focus on that first rather than worrying about the faucet?" And then he replies "It's thinking like this that has gotten your house flooded". And then KZAnne comes over and goes, "LOL your house is flooding and you want that leaky faucet to remain. You are retarded"

Meh, they're still on the kick they were programmed to say the first time Trump floated the idea of cutting it. The late night shows told them it's because conservatives were triggered by Big Bird, so that's the weird angle they choose to continue the attack. These people make a lot more sense when you realize they don't have independent thought. Take Paul, for instance, he's assured you he doesn't watch it, admits that it's a pointless waste of resources, yet he's spent the last two pages arguing with you about it. It's because Trump might cut it and Trump bad. That's as deep as these folks go.

Who cares? It's pointless and awful. Cut it and move on to one of the other tens of thousands of pointless things that costs the US taxpayer hundreds of millions per year.

My point is your motivations for budget cuts are muddied and it's gainfully obvious. ok, "bro". Let's recap. I made a joke about cutting PBS and the meltdown it would create. You took it seriously and made some silly argument about my focus being on cutting PBS and how that was a tiny portion of the budget. Nothing is muddled, and the only thing that's obvious is your emotional fragility after the election.
December 6, 2024Dec 6 A little good news for Democrats. It appears their goal of taxing the wealthy may actually have a slightly better chance of happening now that they lost. Noted crazy lib....uh, Steve Bannon: Quote While recognizing the need for austerity, Bannon framed the coming economic fight as a choice between protecting the working class or shielding the wealthy from financial sacrifice. "If the ox has got to get gored, it's got to come out of the wealthy. It's got to come out of the billionaire class," he stated emphatically. "It cannot come out of the middle class. It cannot come out of the working class. No, no, no. Can't do that. It's hard enough to get by today." https://www.newsweek.com/steve-bannon-warning-america-wealthy-1996228
December 6, 2024Dec 6 So would forcibly taking endowments from private colleges and using them to fund a government run college be considered "government excess"? Seems mighty communist of you ask me. Someone should get on that

Now that Trump is back in, I think the populist voices like Bannon will be pushed aside to a degree. They may get thrown a bone now and again but billionaires choosing to tax billionaires doesn’t seem plausible. Trump’s cabinet choices seem to indicate who has the real influence with him.

Yep, cut it and then cut a thousand other worthless similarly budgeted waste programs and all of a sudden you are actually making a dent. This idea that "Well, gee 500 million isn't that much so it's pointless to cut anything" is literally retarded.

Yes, all of the money in the federal budget that is wasteful are all things that republicans would vote to cut. Yup, it's all spending that goes towards things that only democrats want. But now with a republican majority in the house and senate, they'll be able to find $500 billion of waste outside of the main cost drivers of our spending. Yup, definitely going to happen.... Remind me again why this didn't happen the last time Trump was president and had a republican majority in the house and senate? I know I know, <insert "oh that was different" .gif>

Why can’t you answer my question? Trump was already president before and had a Republican senate and house. Why weren’t these cuts made then? Why did the deficit shoot up Trump’s first two years in office with a Republican senate and house? Why did the deficit get significantly worse compared to where it was at on Obama’s last year? If Obama was a Marxist socialist big government spender, why did the deficit get worse when Trump took over and had a Republican senate and house? And why would things be any different now that we are in the same situation again? You know the definition of insanity right?
