It's not worth risking Maliata or Johnson over. Sorry. He's earned this. If he wants it he can go. No way Siri stands in his way. His line wants it to. This is football. Oh noes potential injury! That can happen any play. It can happen the first play of the playoffs. He's earned this and it would be special. You mentioned Maliata. He's already said he wants to do this.

He makes the choice not the OL.

Thanks Nick said after the game winning the next few weeks was more important. He isn't going to say what they are doing tonight but you can tell he wants to rest them and that is the right move.
December 30, 2024Dec 30 The chart below puts the Rushing record for Saquon into some context. At the end of Game 16 Saquon is in 8th all-time for season rushing yards, and O.J. is only 2 yards behind Saquon despite playing two less games. If I'm Siriani, I am playing Saquon no more than one quarter against the Giants ... if I even play him at all.

Lane also saud they are good with getting 2,000 and it's better to be safe than sorry

You can't put that at risk to chase a stat. If they didn't cheap shot Hurts he probably would have gotten it today. It's a shame, but you are right that it's better to be safe than sorry. On top of that haven't had a bye in close to 3 months, so two full weeks of rest is probably desperately needed. Physically they will be more rested, and everyone is dealing with injuries at this point. The time off will be good all around.

Completely agree with everything, people say this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Barkley.... So is being on a team that has a good chance to get to the super bowl and im willing to bet Barkley rather have the super bowl opportunity. This is reminding me of when Embiid played when he shouldn't have just to get his mvp then ended up hurt for the playoffs. Fans were not so happy he got that MVP then.

Bias statement Dickerson was force fed the ball, had a WR on the team that made 1st team All Pro (with a little over 600 yards), had some HOF blockers, and kept getting the ball despite 14 fumbles that season. The 2nd leading rusher on the rams in 1984 had less than 80 carries. Hurts has 150 carries and Gainwell has another 61. The Rams only had 355 passing attempts that season, while the Eagles have 503 at this point (16 games). Barkley also has 276 receiving yards to Dickerson's 139. The Rams had some blowout wins that year and a couple blow out losses where today's teams would pull the starters in the 4th quarter at some point. Make no mistake, the 84 rams were all about the rushing record. Can you imagine a RB today with 14 fumbles in a single season still starting?

December 30, 2024Dec 30 If they decide to play Hurts for any portion of the game, then play the entire starting O, if they decide to let Hurts rest until the playoffs, then start the 4th string and let everyone else rest. I really, really want the record, but I really, really, really want another Lombardi. Whatever they decide, I'm good with it.

December 30, 2024Dec 30 Hell no. He shouldn't play a single snap so he is well rested and able to save everybodys collective ass when we actually need him to. If he get's banged up in any way in a meaningless game against the Giants of all teams, I'll for the first time since he is our head coach would want Siriani fired!

It’s a record that someone like him deserves after so much time wasted on abysmal teams. Certify yourself as the man in the first year without them. The Giants can always pull a Favre-Strahan move and let him go 70 yards on the first play of the game. That would give Saquon two all time NFL records.

If he clearly wants the record and publicly states as much, Nick will be seen as promoting team harmony by supporting his player.

So its already on Nick to decide. Plus in the first giants game Nick was going to put Barkley back out but, he decided to sit and let the others play. So i dont see Barkley telling Nick he should play for the record

And if he plays you probably have to play the starting OL and maybe even Smith/Brown so they don’t load the box. Tough call but really best to sit them. Get everyone a well earned rest.

This year they have Lamar and Josh Allen pencilled in, plus now they're making a big hoohah about Joe Burrow almost digging the Bengals out of the hole the Bengals dug themselves. At this point Saquon could break the record and not win MVP. Listen to commentary and how often the O Line gets credited for Saquon's success, I honestly can't recall the stat for yards before contact being discussed as often as it has been since he started getting close to the record.

December 30, 2024Dec 30 I’d like to see Siriani have a meeting with the Oline and let them decide. If they can get him the record in a half and decide as a unit that they want to go for it I think they should let them. Honestly I’d like to see hurts get some snaps anyway to not go into the playoffs on basically 3 weeks rest
