Detroit is very injured, Vikings have Sam Darnold as their qb (who has had a great year but could easily have a bad game on the road in the playoffs), and Green Bay is just a decent team. Now Buffalo in the SB would be quite a challenge but so were the patriots when they beat them. I feel like we gave up on our chance of making history, but the Chiefs won't I fully expect to see Taylor Swift holding up their third Super Bowl trophy in a row.
January 1Jan 1 Chances to get to SB are good. NFC teams have their issues/weaknesses. If our guys play to their level, it should make the big dance. On the AFC side, KC has the best record. Bills and Ravens are playing very well too. Hard to say which will win out. Wish it is anyone but KC.
January 1Jan 1 Siri is indicating Barkley will rest, citing the team vs individual record as the basis for decision. As said before, Barkley could get his record and rest for most of the game. Siri's words still cover that scenario.

People are making it sound like it is 21 yards that he needs to get. I'm fine with either decision they make.
January 1Jan 1 Packers are playing their starters in a "meaningless" game next week because they want to be ready for the playoffs If they come in and beat our "rested" team that'll be the icing on the idiot cake after passing on NFL history. Instead of coming in with an offense that has the NFL MVP, and the greatest rushing season in history. We'll get Jalen off a brain injury.

Packers game isn't meaningless. it means a lot to them since winning it gives them a chance to avoid the best team in the NFL in the wild card round. Unlike the Eagles, the Packers have a very good reason to try to win.
January 1Jan 1 I say we should compromise. Let all the important starters sit, and we try to get Kenny Gainwell the all time rushing record!

January 1Jan 1 This isn't just about resting Barkley - it's also about resting the entire offensive line

January 2Jan 2 Barkley can still get a rushing record for the season including playoffs. 2476 is the current record.

So you think Barkely should have played - and of course for him to have a legit shot at the record, the entire OL and starting receivers would have had to play too. That's just the risk you're willing to take!!
January 2Jan 2 What an incredibly difficult decision that was made... One that im on board with as ive stated multiple times. However, part of me wonders what would happen to this team if they cant get out of the first round of the playoffs...

To give Barkley the best shot, you need to play the OL. They haven’t rested since Week 5. And the coaching staff would rightly be questioned if any of those guys got hurt week out from playoffs.

A gauntlet of GB, Minny, Detroit, and then KC or Buffalo? THAT IS BASCIALLY IMPOSSIBLE. GET THE EFFING RECORD!!!!!!!! WE are the team no one wants to play. I guarantee you Washington will do everything they can to beat Dall on Sunday to get that 6th seed.

It sounds like Barkley would like to go for it, so for that, I feel bad for him. The only thing that would make it worth not going for it is for him to stand on the podium as Super Bowl MVP and hoist the Lombardi. Then he can look into the camera and say to Eric Dickerson, "I didn't break your record, but I have something you can never have..." then hold the Lombardi above his head. Of course, he'd never do that to Dickerson, but I would... lol

GB: they haven't beat anyone, look at their schedule. We already beat them this year too. Min: they haven't beat anyone either. When they had to play good teams, they lost to the Lions and Rams. Det: they are banged up on defense KC: they aren't as strong a team as prior years, they've been scraping by with luck, refs, blocked FG, etc. Buf: tough team, that's the one I'd worry about in the Super Bowl KC and Buf: THEY have a gauntlet to get through including beating each other before getting to the SB. Eagles: top defense, top RB, top O line, top WRs. Hurts/Picket/McKee/whoever the passing game has been better. Teams should be scared to play Philly.
January 2Jan 2 I wanted that record for Barkley after all his hard work. But then I thought about it- it's not just him, it's the whole offensive line, TE, WR blocking, and somebody could really get injured in a meaningless game. It could really screw the playoffs up with any player getting hurt. While there is some meaning to it- Barkley getting the record, can you imagine if he got injured and missed the playoffs? So I am good with the decision, even though it's bittersweet.
January 2Jan 2 Sitting the starters is the right call. Risking injury to anyone in a meaningless game just so Barkley can get a rushing record isn't worth it. Plus, I would imagine the Giants D selling out to stop Barkley at all costs without caring if they get beat over the top in the passing game. They would know that the only reason Barkley is playing is to get the record. He'd most likely need another 30 carries in this game just to break 100 yards. The scenario exists that, if we started Barkley and the rest of the O, someone could get injured while also not even getting the record. After having a really early bye this year, I'm sure a week of rest will do the players good. The games in the playoffs are going to be extremely tough so they need to be as healthy as possible going in.
