I don't understand him.  He hits FGs in the swirling wind and snow (one as long as 44 yards) but can't hit XPs, what even is that?

He went thru a stretch like that his first or second year here. He would hit 50 yarders reliably but would miss XPs.

May need to consider resigning Gainwell. He’s a solid backup.

Sacked seven times holding onto the ball too long, plus that ridiculous safety, despite our good offensive line.

Not all 7 sacks were from holding the ball too long and the safety was terrible pass protection. Our offensive line has been very good a majority of the time on runs, but has not been consistently good pass blocking --- especially lately. The interior has been atrocious in pass protection in the playoffs. Honestly if Becton leaves in free agency, it's not that big a deal.

And won the game sort of a big deal

Yup, nearly all by himself. That #26 guy and defense didn't have hardly anything to do with it.

It's been like this for years man. Backup is always the Negadelphians favorite and when that backup plays the same idiots are calling for the 3rd string.

I'm not a "Negadelphian." But I guess you like watching Hurts hold the ball EVERY play for 8.5 seconds and get sacked. Not me. Hurts SUCKS.🤣

How are Phillys odds better than KC? We all know they are making it.

KC is beatable. We are too, but I guess the bettors believe that they are more beatable than we are.

1980 was my first NFCCG. 2022 was my last. A great run.

I've only been to one NFCCG. 1982, Cowboys @ Redskins

I have the Bills beating them next week.

If take care of business and get to the Super Bowl, I'm not sure which I'd rather face. I'm still thinking the Texans...

All Hurts has to do next week is be efficient in the passing game, protect the ball, and take enough pressure off the run game to allow Saquon to feast.

We said that this week as well. He still couldn't do it. He's barely a game manager at this point. He's like a backup RB you put in when your 3rd QB goes down. The passing game is regressing to that level of bad.

I would say the Bills cause their defense isn't that good. But then I realize this Offense is Putrid so its irrelevant how bad  any of the defenses are that are left.

We see everything from a situational stand point. We hate being in a 1 score game and punting three straight times but the end result is that we are putting up 25+ points which should be good enough to win most games in the NFL. Especially when our defense is averaging sub 20 in points allowed. It had only allowed 13 points until those garbage time drives and they got the job done in the end.

In the 4th quarter, Barkley looked over at Hurts and asked for the ball and then proceeded to take it to the house. They both knew based on the formation that he was gone before the play. The reason they both knew is because Moore has them understanding the offense and the chess match to a level where they know when they got them. If the defense is not doing what they want, Moore will call a series of plays to open up future home runs. We've been playing a much more cerebral offense and should we be lucky enough to have him for more years, much more of that will become apparent as the team understands more of the reads and the chess match.

What the bettors know and the players across the league know, is that Philly is the best team hands down left in the hunt. They all know we have the best defense by far. They all know the top 7 run defenses are all knocked out. They know the formula that carried us through a massive 14 win regular season and two playoff games is very much open and alive to deliver us the ultimate prize. We can literally run away with it.

As to Hurts, I've been as critical as anyone but he's getting the job done and right now that's all that matters. He was doing fine in the passing game but between drops and penalties we left too much out there. The safety was as much him trying to gut out an injury when he arguably shouldn't have been in for a few series. I'm not sure he would sit even if they told him he tore a ligament at this point. I mean he played through a gnarly broken finger. His heart and his drive embody this team. Do we wish he wouldn't hold the ball so much? Sure we do, but he embodies all the mental toughness, grit and integrity that we value so much. I'd follow him into battle against any opponent regardless of the odds and fight to the bitter end. At this point, we have entered the breech and it's time to ride or die. It's time to live green, bleed green, believe in green and die green. All the rest is just noise.

This week is about one thing and one thing only… Beat the Commies! Beat them and break them and lets get to the Super Bowl.

This is right, but it would sure help to take shorter drops and get the ball out quicker as a general rule.  A 5 step drop on the end zone is pushing it.

Game was great. Would like to see hurts throw it away and the o-line pass block better. 2+ sacks were duebto Hurts holding the ball. His knee really concerns me though

It was actually a great play call and if Dickerson and Cam don't fail to execute a block on one guy, that's a pretty easy first down. You can see on the replay Hurts is just about to unload to Goedert.

But generally speaking, when your offense is allowing sacks, either because of the blocking, the coverage, or the QB, the OC should recognize this and either give the line more help or design concepts to get the ball out quickly (or both). But I thought that was a good play call and there's little excuse for Dickerson and Cam to both fail so bad on the same play. What was Dickerson even thinking?

Everyone is beatable. But when the refs/league say do what it takes to help that team win it doesn’t matter. KC is the new Patriots.

That's what got me, you're passing in your own end zone and a DT gets by your center and guard in barely a second and half.

Hurts absolutely holds the ball too long at times but that's papering over some shaky protection the last few games, Becton had a couple of whiffed blocks in this game that illustrate the limitations of his game, he's a road grader in the run game no question, but he's bang average as a pass blocker. I don't see him as irreplaceable.

We have 2 games to win. I have to try to back Hurts, so I will. Why? He is the starting QB whether I want him to be or not, and I want the TEAM to win it all, and the CITY to go crazy. He is a slow minded statue too many times, but for 2 more games, I will have to back him. I will also VENT when he just stands there and takes sacks. Just run, dude. Hand the ball off or run for your life, because you aren't reading defenses and passing, that's for sure. Go beat the Redskins, go beat Bills/Chiefs in the Super Bowl. Do it with your fing feet and Barkley's legs if that's what it takes. Just win, baby.

"He was doing fine in the passing game but between drops and penalties we left too much out there."

You blame drops and penalties for statue Hurts getting sacked left and right, and his inability to pass it down field, or throw the damn ball away to avoid sacks??? 🤣

The ball should have been out at that point

The O Line needs to do a much better job in pass protection against the Commanders. The passing game starts with the protection. 7 sacks isn't getting it done.

I found it interesting that the Eagles ran screens that worked for average about 9 yards. I saw them 3 times the whole game and then they disappeared. If it works you keep doing to make the defense adjust to try to stop it. But no, our Offensive Coordinator doesn't think like that.

Should that not also be the answer to slowing down a pass rush that's been teeing off on your qb?

Yep. and Slants. Brown caught one pass on a slant to beat the pass rush. It doesn't take a genius to figure that out.

Yesterday was the first time all year I remember our screen game being effective.  Probably because of the strong pass rush Rams were getting.  We need to execute on screens instead of messing them up with penalties in these situations.
