opa-opa Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Sorry but I just need to rant. Who cares about style points in the playoffs? The Eagles are on a mission. They have the #1 defense in the NFL. It's not a fluke. They have at least 4 Pro Bowlers on that D and they have shut down top offenses week after week. So it's not a fluke. So Siriani and Hurts are managing this team like you would a team that has the #1 defense and #1 rushing offense. ie run the ball and don't turn the damn ball over. We're never going to beat anyone in a shootout. Our wins are going to be ugly and physical, just accept it. So we need to shut the F up and let them do their thing. In the end if we win it all no one will give a crap about how pretty the games were. 5 7 1
xxeaglesfanxx Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I just want them to win. But I’d like to see Hurts play better. He’s due for a stinker. 1
opa-opa Posted January 19 Author Posted January 19 Just look at what happened to the Lions today. They were the better team but they got tricked by the Commies into playing a shootout and abandoned the run game that's why they lost. We can't fall into the same trap. 1
DrPhilly Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Not saying the OP is senile. I didn’t create this meme. @opa-opa 1

Wagyu Hotdog Posted January 19 Posted January 19 There’s a board called "Rant N Rave” for this kind of thing

JohnB Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I'm good with an ugly win, but ugly wins only take you so far. At some point you have to show why you're the better team

It’s not possible to turn the ball over like that with the brand of football they have Hurts play. If the defense were to lay an egg and we have to abandon the run, then it could happen. But if they play their game on offense, he doesn’t have the control or throw into the windows necessary to even permit for turnovers.

But if it’s snowing I’m sure they’ll be running it a lot.

Hurts has zero excuses to go out and make plays through the air in the playoffs. 1
Talonblood Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I think you need to let people have their opinions. That adds the spice to the board/life. But I also agree. When you have the number one D and a runnings game like they have, all Hurts needs to do is manage the game nicely, pick up a couple of 1st downs with his feet, and NOT turn the ball over. He is doing that. I already know Hurts isn't a great QB and never fell for the hype. Do what you can to help this team win it all. That's enough for me these days.
Vileborg Posted January 19 Posted January 19 The talk is all just noise. We're in a good position and we've got the best team. The path forward has parted like the red sea. We just need to continue to be the bully and push the other teams around. 6 of the top 7 rushing defenses are out. Leaving a path to literally run away with the trophy. We've beaten three of the five remaining teams and done so in dominant fashion when Hurts is in the game. Hurts causes additional stress on a defense in the run game and opens up more options for Barkley. The Eagles are the deadliest team left in the hunt and they just need to take care of business. 1
birdman#12 Posted January 20 Posted January 20 The eagles offense is so talented that they make up for Hurts shortcomings. When you have a running back who rips off 62 yard and 78 yards touchdown runs, it hides a lot shortcomings. Hurts is a 2 look QB who can't anticipate well. His 2 looks are too slow and that's why the eagle 3rd receiver rarely sees a pass. But having 2 pro bowl caliber WRs and a top 10 TE saves his ass a lot. The defense is superior.......the best defense in the NFL......fast and aggressive. The eagles may win the NFCCG and the Super Bowl with their powerful run game and stingy defense. But their passing offense has become pathetic......and there's only one reason for it and it's not the receivers and it isn't Kellen Moore. It's Jalen Hurts......and his slow reads and slow decision making leaves at least 10-12 points on the field. 3
Procus Posted January 20 Posted January 20 OP is spot on here. A win is a win in the playoffs. A lot of miserable fans right now in Detroit and Baltimore. I'd rather be in our shoes. We're hosting the NFCCG despite Hurts getting banged up. 2
AmericanEagle77 Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I think it's funny how many people were bellyaching about the backslide before the year and how unacceptable it was that are defending Hurts here. This style of play is not sustainable in the long term. It might work this year, with the top running back and top defense, but keeping both those, and the OL, when you're paying Jalen that much money isn't going to work. If Jalen needs to be carried to this degree for his inability to make quick and decisive anticipation heavy throws, then he needs to take less money. Because otherwise it isn't going to work out. And for anyone who talks about him improving - it's true he could, but we shouldn't have to wait 6-7 seasons to see it. Sorry, we shouldn't. 1

Way too much tied up in Hurts and he isn't pulling his weight on offense. This leads to another issue. How can we also justify tying up cap space in both Brown Smith when we cant even properly utilize them cause of Hurts. Its wasted resources. 1
