I'm more worried about Dickerson and Jurgens.

There was a report yesterday that they both are good to go for the big game. Nothing serious for either one.

And we ended up signing Bryce Huff to $3/30m GTD to be a 3rd string DE. Instead of letting Reddick Hold out/throw him a bonus and he could’ve been a comp pick in 2026.  With Slay/Bradbury likely being off the books, we had money for Reddick.

Even with the trade - we should’ve found a way to find another mid-season FA/Trade option to bolster the position.

Seriously? After the offseason we had leading to the SB that is what you want to talk about?

Uh.. but Roseman only hit on 9 out of 10.

Oh and btw, did you see how it went with Reddick at the Jets? Thank god we didn't have to deal with that.

Tragic what happened to that Temple student, but all the more reason that this crap needs to stop.  It was funny the first couple of times, but now it's just stupid and tired, enough already.

Link?

All the reports I saw were that everything was up in the air for both of them.

I kinda hate that stuff. What team do those types of streaks often end against? <_<

Run the ball, quick easy timing throws - eat clock - end drives with TDs. You stop KC by limiting their possessions - and making sure you capitalize on yours.

I’m always worried about a Fangio Defense vs competent QBs who will take 6 yards every pass and not force the issue. The death by 1000 cuts is okay if you’re scoring touchdowns and only allowing the opponent FGs. It eats the clock, if we’re doing the same.

I think we need an offensive drive or two with 9-13+ plays, soaking up 8-10 minutes and ending in TDs. Really bleeding the clock and keeping defense fresh and KC offense stagnant on the sidelines.

This and HANDLE THE BLITZ

Both Ds are good.  Our D is better.

As good as your line is at run blocking opponents still get a lot of sacks on you. In fact you have given up more sacks than the Chiefs in 2/3 of the passing plays. We may get run over by Barkley but I do think we can get pressure on passing plays. Our sacks were down this year but most of that was from both our #2 DB and Ominihu being out for much of the season. Since they came back it has been clicking.

On another note I am a little disappointed in you guys…. When I first came here 3years ago I got a typical nasty welcome but you guys have been fairly quiet. You guys get a bad rap. Niners fans are real nasty and arrogant. Here’s to a good game.

Welcome back. We are always up for football talk.  The more substantive, the better.  As soon as it devolves to nonsense takes, the quicker with the ad hominem crap.

--

To your point, the Eagles line is responsible for some sacks this year (because of course they are) but a fair amount are on Hurts holding way too long.  He got rid of the ball a bit quicker last game.  Down from a whopping 3.6 seconds to about 3?  Still kinda crazy, but skewed by a few plays, I think.  Sure felt like it was a lot better, though.

One of our big concerns will be Spags blitzes coming from all over the place. Our best approach to that is three fold:  1) to line up in ways that let us get a handle on who is likely to do what. Alignment helps. Motion helps. We used both well last game;  2) is to have AND USE outlets and safety valves; and 3) IMO, the most important thing is for us to run right at KC.  If we can establish the run and get 200 on the ground, I think we win this game.   If we get 230+, I think we get much closer to being sure we win (barring other stupid ish like multiple TOs or bad specials).

If you get to 200 we probably lose. I know we have been gashed a bit by the run recently but the first 12 games we were top 3. I suspect we will be better this game but who knows. I suspect Moore will have hurts get the ball out quicker to the backs at TE’s which we have been vulnerable to for sure. Offensively we will do the same. As to turnovers, one team gets them and one doesn’t give them up. We just don’t have much luck with them. We had six opportunities against Buffalo and got zero. Team that gets a couple probably wins.

Easy things to quantify but really hard to COUNT ON are things like multiple sacks, crazy penalties and TOs. Safe to say, if one team gets a bunch of one or more of those things and the other team doesn't, the one that does, wins.

Barring those game changing things, I think the base game plan is what you measure the teams by and about which you can generalize.

If we get 200+ on the ground, we likely win.

If the game is close and you have the ball late, KC is going to score and win.

If we handle the blitz with quick outs to TEs and RBs, this portends an Eagles victory. KC has struggled there, as you indicated. This is very good for us (like we have struggled with middle pressure and blitzes, although Jalen has been better).

If we can pressure Mahomes with middle pressure and keep discipline on the edges, we likely win.

He runs on us and we can end up cooked, fast. If Kelce gets crazy YAC, not good for us.   Andy finds killer mismatches (HE WILL FIND THEM) that succeed and that is big bad for us.  I am hoping that the Eagles D's much better use of space this year limits the "watch this" aspect of Andy's game plan.

Other things that I think will be important are:  1) can we shut KC's run down, with 4 DL?  Pretty big deal because allows us to stay in our 2 high safety look and force everything in front. 2) is the Eagle kicking game dogshit or solid?  You KNOW the Chiefs kicking game will be good.  We can't afford to lose points there. 3) return game. Ours has been decent, especially lately. We already know you guys won the last matchup in '22 in part due to a big return.  We can't afford that. On the contrary we really need to put KC behind the eight ball there and get some inside the 30 starts for you. Make you make more plays.  You guys are good at it too so we just need to make you work harder.  2 to 3 more plays over 4 or 5 drives is a lot of opportunity for TOs and outs.

By the way, you may want to post in the "Blog" thread as that is where everyone is posting.  This thread is not very robust.

In 2015, Chip Kelly's Eagles went into New England and upset the Patriots.  Patriots previously had won 4 straight against the Eagles.  We all know what happened 2 years later in the Super Bowl rematch between the teams.

In 2023, the Eagles went into KC and upset the Chiefs.  Chiefs previously had won 4 straight against the Eagles.  Super Bowl rematch between the teams in less than two weeks . . .

Getting tired of seeing the media crap all over the Eagles, First Take seems to be the biggest offender based on the stuff i've seen shared on twitter.   The most recent one was from Cam Newton saying how the Eagles would never have made any Super Bowls if they were an AFC team.  Like F off already, the hell?

When I first joined the EMB way back around 2000, I got a nasty welcome (from some) and I'm a die hard Eagles fan. I've been on the EMB now for 24 or 25 years and I still get crap from time to time lol. Don't read too much into it, if you aren't a troll and you enjoy some banter and you have even a small amount of football intelligence, you'll fit in and be accepted well enough... even if we might abuse you from time to time

Seriously though, you're welcome to come talk football, or movies, or politics (if that's your thing, but only in CVON) or whatever, any time. Not just when the Eagles and Chiefs play each other.

We hate Chip (for the most part), but that was a glorious game!

I bet you Jason Kelce is kicking himself in the ass for not playing one more year. Also- he is going to need a "Two Face" jersey for the Super Bowl- half Eagles/half KC. 🤣

KC is very efficient with the short plays, take what the D gives you, kinda stuff.  That and Kelce down the seam.  So yeah, the death by a thousand cuts is a concern.

Eagles' O needs to do the same, as you said.  KC's defense is pretty good, though.  We need to keep them guessing and be ready for the blitzes that are sure to come.  They're better against the run than any D we've seen so far in the playoffs and they'll surely be focusing on Barkley.  Hurts has to burn them a few times.

All this talk about BG hopefully playing in the Super Bowl but what I wanna know is when are they activating Bradberry from IR it’s his time to shine!!! :howie:

He said he was rooting for the eagles

On WIP yesterday, he was asked, and all he could say was I'm going to be happy for someone, and I'm going to feel sad for someone. He was non-commital either way. I get the sense he's trying to answer diplomatically, but as happy as he'd be for former team mates, I think during the game, he's likely going to lean towards his brother.

I was aware he said that, but my gut tells me he will shift as the game nears and is being played. At the 1:40 mark, he's asked the question on WIP. This is from yesterday.

He gives a much more neutral answer.
