NOTW Posted January 27 Posted January 27 So we'll be going against the Chiefs + the refs + the league wanting the first ever 3-peat team. Bring it on. 9
NJWolverEagle11 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 We interrupted a 3peat b4 now we have to outright stop one 8
Portyansky Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Well. We lost to the goat, then beat him. Lost to the baby goat, beating him is pending in 2 weeks... 7
EazyEaglez Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Honestly I’m not scared of the Chiefs, but I am concerned about the Eagles being forced to face the Chiefs and the NFL refs. 5 1

xzmattzx Posted January 27 Posted January 27 This Super Bowl feels different. Two years ago, I could tell the Eagles would lose. There was just that feel to it. This time, it is hard to see how the Chiefs will stop Saquon, and if they do, then they have to stop AJ and Devonta. Then the defense is a turnover machine, with possibly the best defensive lineman in the league, and some young guys in the secondary that can make big plays.
NOTW Posted January 27 Author Posted January 27 Eagles know what they're up against. This time, they have the top defense & run game. They need to have a solid lead in the 4th & watch for mistakes & penalties. Leave no room for refs. 5
opa-opa Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Eagles 1.5 underdogs Yeeesss we are the underdogs again 2

Eagles are the better team in every one of these categories except for passing (tbh I'm kinda surprised the Chiefs' passing rank is only 14th considering they have Mahomes at QB), hopefully it plays out that way on the field like it did in tonight's game: In 2022 the Chiefs actually had the better offense (I believe they were the #1 or #2 ranked offense whereas the Eagles were the #3 or #4 ranked one (I can't recall the exact numbers I just know the Chiefs were better in that category. 1
NOTW Posted January 27 Author Posted January 27 I feel very confident. This team is different. Aggressive defense. Dominant O line & run game. Siri has matured & improved, learned from past mistakes. This year people have expected tough games/losses where the Eagles were supposed to struggle, and they won. And several games they won convincingly & dominated. Bengals, Rams (reg season), Ravens, Steelers. People were "scared" about each playoff game. This team has a winning mentality. 2

Yeah i think the big difference last time was that the Chiefs shut down our running game while we let Pacheco run wild. That has to be reversed if we are to have a chance this time around. 2

That team absolutely should've been a dynasty, but they somehow managed to keep losing in the NFCCG. Then they lost in the only SB they got to due to an Akers missed FG and piss poor clock management. 2

As far as I recall the team that has the most money put on them is usually the one that loses (since Vegas always wins). I remember something like that said a while back but my memory is a little foggy on the specifics.

When the spread moves it usually means that the "smart money” is on the team in which the line moves for (heavy bettors, professional bettors, insiders, etc) Especially when it moves this early on. Vegas wins regardless because of the "juice”. That’s why they will continue to move the line in order to "balance out” the bets. They want even money on both sides.

Meanwhile, there are many fans of the 1979-'83 New York Islanders who will also be rooting for the Eagles because they want the Chiefs to go down so those Isles can retain their title of "The Last True Dynasty" as the last team to in any of the four major pro sports win at least four consecutive titles (and they did it having to in all four of those seasons win four rounds of playoffs, 15 games each time and actually won 19 straight playoff series before losing to Gretzky's Oilers in the 1984 Stanley Cup Finals). Some of those fans actually "pop the champagne" every time a defending champion goes down and wanted their late coach Al Arbour to do a video where he "popped the champagne" before he died. 2
VaBeach_Eagle Posted January 27 Posted January 27 I did this for Super Bowl LII and LVII and since I'm NOT superstitious , I'll do it again for Super Bowl LIX. This isn't the GDT, just the 2 week lead up thread. @EagleJoe8 will do the Game Day Thread. Bring it home Saquon, Jalen, AJ and everyone else in Midnight Green! We lost our first Super Bowl in that stadium, avenge that and bring us that Lombardi! Super Bowl LII Pre-Game Thread Archive 2
