Bwestbrook36 Posted February 2 Posted February 2 How are they gonna figure the logistics and schedule out for this sheet? They are like 20 hrs ahead of us and its like a 20 hr flight. I love Australia but, this is a bit ridiculous imo 2

So that means it will likely be a one of those two bye weeks after the game. Late October which means like Sunday midday here for 8pm Saturday if the dual daylight savings change has already happened
Mat Posted February 2 Posted February 2 My question is will they allow a tailgate? The MCG car park is grass and notoriously crap with even allowing people in

They plan on the extra gane doesn't mean its going to happen

So if it's Eagles-Rams, the Eagles would be the 'home' team. It would take the game away from local fans and require all of the travel, but I think that with Mailata on the team, the local Australian fans may all go for the Eagles. I would suggest that it be the first game of the season, like this years game, but that can't happen. We'll be playing the first Thursday Night game then, with the banner presentation.
eagle45 Posted February 2 Posted February 2 I wonder how much international revenue all these international games are generating. Still feels like, aside from small but passionate pockets, the rest of the world still doesn’t care.

There is currently an odd amount of games, so a team may have an extra away game or home game compared to the 8-8 split from previous season. With the NFL looking at international markets, the teams with the extra 'home' game will likely play overseas
PoconoDon Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Watch out for these guys found near Melbourne... Spoiler

I would suggest that it be the first game of the season, like this years game, but that can't happen. We'll be playing the first Thursday Night game then, with the banner presentation. Then there's this on PFT that references the original report indicating this would be a Rams home game (Florio does acknowledge that the scheduling formula would have Philly as the home team in 2026). Report: Australia to host NFL games starting in 2026 The NFL’s international takeover reportedly will continue with a visit next year to the land down under. According to the Herald Sun, the Melbourne Cricket Ground will host three total NFL games, beginning in 2026. The report pegs the Eagles and the Rams as the first teams to play there. The report says the Rams are the home team; under the NFL’s scheduling formula, however, the Eagles host the Rams that year. And while the current 17-game rotation has NFC teams hosting nine games in even-numbered years, taking Rams-Eagles out of the country in 2026 would result in the Eagles sacrificing a home game to the international effort for the second time in three years. In 2024, the Eagles hosted the Packers in Brazil. The timing of the report means that one of the various questions posed to Commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday will address the Australia news. (Which is one less question that will be focused on a topic he’d perhaps rather not address during the annual Super Bowl-week media gathering.) So we’ll see what’s said on Monday. Maybe the Eagles will indeed give up another home game in 2026. Or maybe it will be a different Eagles game. Or a different Rams game. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-australia-to-host-nfl-games-starting-in-2026 2
brkmsn Posted February 2 Posted February 2 For those of you that forgot the announcement a couple years ago: https://theeagleswire.usatoday.com/2022/05/24/philadelphia-eagles-news-international-markets-australia-ghana-africa/ This is the Eagles' market. It was just a matter of time.

With the NFL looking at international markets, the teams with the extra 'home' game will likely play overseas Yes, but in 2026 the Rams are an Eagles opponent with the game slotted as an Eagles home game. So if they move it to Australia, it's a home game that the Eagles lose in Philadelphia. So it would be a 'home' game for the Eagles in Australia. Unless they add an 18th game by 2026 and that 18th game becomes a home game while the Australia game is just a 'neutral site' game. I do kind of expect that 17th and 18th games will eventually end up being international games for all NFL teams with each team only having 8 home games and 8 away games inside the U.S. If that's the case, where each team will have international games every year, you may get the Eagles in Australia once, or even twice each season. Since as @brkmsn mentioned above, Australia is the Eagles domain.
wholesale_Melvin Posted February 2 Posted February 2 this is confirmed, right ? know it's the weekend but i haven't seen anything on the big sites (cbs sports, sports illustrated, espn.....) about this at all.
kiwieagle Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Unpopular opinion on here but for me personally, I am glad to hear this. Can't believe it'll be the Eagles!!! After going to two games last year, three games this year, and now about to head to the SB, a game in Melboure will be a lot more palatable on the wallet. PS: Not that I think this is the reason at all but I got lucky last year and someone who worked for the Eagles got me down to the sidelines pre-grame for the warm-ups of the Eagles vs Vikings Week 2 game last year, after realising i had flown from NZ for my first ever Eagles game. Amazing fan experience. As it was a Thursday night and national game, Godell was there and ended up very briefly meeting and chatting to him pre-game on the sidelines - told him to bring some games to Australia (New Zealand is a pipe dream and would never happen as we are too small). He told me they were working on it - happened sooner than i realised at the time. 1
