This is going to go down as the ultimate and definitive case of "Even when Trump gets it right, he gets it wrong". Power dynamics in Venezuela will not change and will probably get uglier. Drug cartels will find new routes and oil companies will give Trump a promise and a photo op but won't actually get Trump the oil he wants. Maduro's trial will be another Trump led legal sham.

it is insane that MAGA and its fans will fall for this level of con job, but of course they will again. Trumpers won't even bother visiting this thread 6 months from now.

I mean a few weeks ago they were claiming it wasn't child rape because she was 15 and not 8. There is absolutely no bottom.

So US oil companies rebuild in Venezuela and the American tax payer foots the bill. What a sweet deal.

Big oil firms will either "get reimbursed by us or through revenue," Trump told NBC News in an exclusive interview.

Those companies already invested in and moved to Canada, which has better oil and stable politics. Trump acting like they just gonna pack their bags to join his shite show is something you have to be really, really and I mean really stupid to believe.

Tensions appear to be rising in Venezuela in the aftermath of US military action to capture President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, with rights groups reporting checkpoints and media repression as security forces patrol the streets.

Venezuela’s Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello posted two videos on Instagram showing security forces in the capital Caracas.

In one video, a group of armed men can be heard shouting: "Loyal always, traitors never!”

The SNTP Venezuelan journalists’ union denounced repression against journalists on Monday, and Edmundo González – who the opposition maintains was the true winner of the 2024 elections – repeated calls for the release of political prisoners.

In a video message from exile, González said that the capture of Maduro was "a necessary step, but not sufficient” to achieve a democratic transition.

On Monday, the Committee for the Liberation of Political Prisoners in Venezuela reported that political prisoners have had visiting rights suspended and are being prevented from communicating with the outside world.

The committee added that checkpoints have been going up in cities around the country, with people being searched and detained for possessing "digital material” linked to the US military action.

The Venezuelan government on Monday published the decree of the State of External Commotion, which grants broad powers to the presidency and orders security forces to capture "any person involved in the promotion or support” of the US attack against the South American country.

Haven't seen much in the press but it seems several of our military personnel were in fact injured by both bullets and shrapnel. The good news is that none of the injuries are life threatening (according to Stephen Miller).

no doubt he will try to justify this and bring up the over 1300 posts of his over bidens term, screaming about we must stop Venezuela from killing millions of americans with fentanyl.

Latin and South America are going to rise up against Trump! Any day now......

Sure is a good thing we put an end to the almost zero percent of fentanyl coming in from Venezuela.

Venezuela plays a virtually non-existent role in the fentanyl trade to the United States. Fentanyl in the U.S. does not come from Venezuela, and there is no measurable percentage or evidence of it being manufactured or trafficked from there.

According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and other experts:

  • Production: Illicit fentanyl is overwhelmingly produced by Mexican transnational criminal organizations in clandestine labs in Mexico.

  • Precursors: The chemicals used to make fentanyl are primarily sourced from China and India and shipped to Mexico.

  • Trafficking Routes: Nearly all fentanyl is smuggled into the U.S. via land through the U.S.-Mexico border, mostly at official ports of entry.

  • Venezuela's Role: Venezuela is primarily a transit country for cocaine, most of which is now headed to Europe, not the U.S.. U.S. and UN drug intelligence reports do not list Venezuela as a source or transit country for the fentanyl supply chain

Now do a poll on whether Latin American countries are cool with us stealing their resources.
