It honestly would be the most effective pressure you could ever put on southern states. If high level black athletes boycotted the SEC for one single recruiting cycle, they'd redraw their maps in a week. And even more so if only, say GA didn't gerrymander and UGA saw a surge of every 5-star that was considering Bama and LSU, the donors would start threatening state legislatures immediately. Everyone would freak out.

It's a crying shame all this redistricting, just another mortal wound to our democracy, extreme Gerrymandering should have been outlawed decades ago. But at the end of the day this feels like the GOP torching all their gains with minorities just to lose the house by less in the 2026 mid terms. It's not good long term policy.

It’s not good long term policy. You would think some of the republican representatives whose districts are being watered down would be leery of getting flipped, but I imagine objecting to trump would have the same outcome.

Trump gives zero F’s about any strategy that doesn’t put him first.

There is a particularly contentious Republican primary battle going on for the office of State Senator in my district, and I'm seeing way more ads than usual for a primary election.

One ad that I keep seeing says the following about our incumbent State Senator: "He blocked Democrats from raising your utility bills."

SO, since my electric bill has nearly doubled in the last year, my heating oil bill has more than doubled in the last year, and my water and sewer bill is up 20% in the last year, the only possible logical conclusions that I can draw from this ad are:

1.) Either he's claiming that Republicans are entirely responsible for the increases in my utility bills OR

2.) He's about as good at blocking things as Matt Pryor

My district is so red that there isn’t even anyone on the ballot for the democrats in this race, so the winner of this primary is the presumptive winner of the general election. Based on what the two republicans are saying about each other, obviously neither one of them is qualified and they’re both pretty **** people as well. Lots and lots of special interest money being poured into the primaries by the "skill” game industry because "gasp” the incumbent dares to be involved in the movement in the state to regulate those games so that 8 year olds can’t gamble away their allowance unsupervised at a gas station.
