I believe they’re just being stupid.

However, they’re almost assuredly going to draft QB next year. If they also add a linemen or two, then they’re giving a young guy a real chance to succeed. We’ve seen so many QB’s ruined by a poor situation early in their careers.

At this point, the key to everything would be filling the OL holes.

They will dominate in the same way that the Raiders dominated last year by drafting a RB high to a team that is in no way a RB away from being even mediocre. That is, they will suck.

Being the Cardinals, it probably won't much matter what they do. It's not like they can get a whole lot worse.

When Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love recently put pen to paper on his rookie contract, he secured the biggest full guarantee of any running back in NFL history. And while some will argue that the contract sets a new bar for full guarantees at the running back position, the truth is that the compensation package reflects not the fact that he’s a running back but the fact that he was the third overall pick in the draft.

Rookie deals are driven not by position on the field but by position in the draft process. Anyone taken in that spot would have gotten the same deal. It wouldn’t have mattered whether he was a running back, quarterback, defensive end, or any other position. The contract comes from where the player was picked, not where he lines up or how often he plays.

@time2rock That's why most teams don't draft a RB in the top 5 because they are not a premium position and almost never worth that slot value salary.

2025 Ashton Jeanty

I do think that with the Breece Hall contract, we are seeing there is still value for top end rb's going for 15m/ yr when the top wr's are going for 35m and even a center can go for 28. I just don't see it with this kid. 1st rd pick? Sure. Top 10 felt too high for me, I would have said 15-25. Any 1st rd grade for a RB is a big deal, but top 10is reserved for Adrian Peterson level prospects.
